This works on all KAPPAs. The colors/wiring is the same for the Sky, I verified this with Thundersky at the Southeastern Meet last weekend.
Two methods to do this mod. Method 2 is by far the easier.
Method 1
Here is a cool cheap mod. What I did was add an automotive relay on each side marker to convert them into turn signals and still retain the marker for the parking lights.
The relay is installed with the side marker +12V brown wire cut in half and connected to the relay in the normally closed position, position 87a to 30. The blinker +12V Light Blue wire is tapped and the black wire, hook them to position 85, 86.
The following picture is what you need to do this mod.
I'm just using a standard 5 prong square automotive relay available at any auto parts store for about $10-$15 each. Make sure it is the 5 prong as the 4 prong relays do not have 87A, which you need. Any compentent parts guy should know what it is you are looking for. When I have mine deleivered I'll post a part number from Checkers Auto Parts.

I did get one side done, before I knew it was the five pin relay I bought the 4 pin from radio shack. It does work but they both flash at the same time!
I found an easier way. At least on the sky. No idea how the solstice is wireloomed, but based on the pictures it is a tiny bit different.
1)Follow the side marker wireing (in the loom) where it meets with the loom to the turn signal. Both go into a larger loom.
2)Cut the electrical tape with a razor blade on the larger piece of loo from the point where the two meet and go 6 inches. Gently so you do not accidently cut the wires. Remove the electrical tape and pull the wires out.
3) There is one set of 4 wires to the front turn signal (blue, black, purple, brown). Seperate out the blue and black.
4) The other set is 2 wires for the side marker (black and brown). Cut this brown wire, strip back, and connect female spades to each end. Connect one side to 87A and the other to 30
5) Refering to step 3, tap the blue and black. Using a wire tap, and a 4 inch piece of wire with end connectors, connect the blue to 85 and black to 86.
6) bundle and place wires back into loom. Use black electrical tape to tidy up, and secure relay with black zip tie.
I found this to be better than running cables all over and you do not have to remove any connectors.
Well I got this done tonight. The above info was handy, except on my SKY, the Blue wire needed to go to 86 and The Black wire to 85. May depend on the Relay. I bought a relay from Standard Part# RY116 from a local auto parts store for $10 each. I will say that just cutting the brown wire from the side marker light and putting female clips on was a bit too tight, so on the second side I extended the wire with a crimp extender.
When I was done I wrapped it all up nice and tucked the relays under the black bar of the front frame so that the headlight has no problem clearing it.
Awesome thread DeepBlue! I have been saying the side markers should blink since day one when I picked the car up. This should be done at the factory, but at least now I know how to do it.
This is one of my favorite mods. Takes less than an hour, costs less than $30, and adds to the safety AND the look of the SKY/Solstice.
I have to say, I have owned almost 20 cars in my day, and this is the first car I own where I cared enough to join the forum for the car. I will never own another car without joining a forum for it, it adds to the enjoyment of the car times 10.
Just learned today, that the sidemarkers do not blink unless the parking lights are on (at night). Makes sense, since they are not bright enough during the day anyway, but I figured some may want to know that!
Just saw a caddy cts today with the alternating side marker lights...Hmmm. It appears there is a GM mod for this. I just may run over to a caddy dealer this week.
My local "supermarket" auto part shops only had the 4 prong (normally open) type - ended up at NAPA $11 ea - A bit ? pricey but they were quality units, should hold up well over the years..
I have the 4 pins on now but waiting for the new 5 pins to come in.
I did try the 5 pin from checker but they keept blowing the fuse. I checked the module and it's sending extra voltage to the marker lights causing the fuse to blow.
At least the two I bought did, they were the only ones checker carried. They also seam pretty cheap, so I'd suggest you not use these!
Ordered my relays from the aforementioned place on line. Bought a few extra so if anyone in TBR wants it done. Relays should be here this week. Looks like an easy mod and enhances the car.
Just bought mine from PepBoys...the Brand is BWD and their part number is R3177...it is 5 prong and made in China...here goes nothing...dum de dum dum:thumbs:
It has on the module the same diagram as DeepBlue has...although the unit does not have the availability to put a screw into it...i liked that module better.

Whoops, I got the 5 prong Tridon EP27 from Pep Boys and blew two fuses before I put a meter on the connections for the side marker wires and discoverd a pulsing DC voltage there. Lower than the blinker connection voltage but still there.
At least I learned where the spare fuses are located (under the passenger-side mat) and where the light fuse is (the underhood fuse block) at position #69.
I'm still not convinced where the relay should be located. The wiring is easy enough to dress no matter where you put it.
MM, let me know how it turns out and if you are doing the first or second version (with spade connection). I'd like to know which is easier and better able to be kept out of harm's way.
I CHEATED>>>it was 95 degrees and inside the garage was hotter...I brought my car to an auto detailer...handed him the modules..told him to do the dirty deed...69 dollars later...DONE! Sometimes, it's nice to watch someone else sweat.
