Corvette Wave

This morning I got a wave from a guy driving a convertible corvette. I guess the it must be a roadster brother/sister hood thing? I did wave back, since we were the two coolest cars on the road.

He probably thought you were another Corvette. I confuse them often myself when approaching head-on, thinking I'm seeing another Sky. The front ends and headlights are very similar in the model yrs after corvette did away with the pop up headlights.

Vette Wave

A Black Vette Convertable and I exchanged waves the other day. I waved because it was a cool looking car and I expect he was thinking the same.

For what it's worth, apparently the black Corvettes do have the brother/sisterhood thing going on - complete with the wave. They call themselves the Black Sheep Squadron. Of course, there is people who just happen to have a black one and have no idea that community exists - just like there are Sky owners with no idea about our little community.

I always wave at 'vette owners if I see them looking my direction - almost any sports car or convertible, really.

Ha, when was the last time a Miata or S2000 owner let you catch them looking at your car? They seem to want to ignore my bright yellow car - I can't imagine why...

Teasing aside, I do try to be friendly because they do share the roadster love, even if they picked a different beast. In a world full of SUVs and oversized pickups, it's nice to see another roadster now and then.

I think some corvette owners honestly like the skys. I have had 2 different one pull up beside me in the interstate and yell out the window "NICE CAR!!!" The first time was about a week after I got my "classic" sky and it startle me so bad I almost swerved into the lane next to me.

Other Corvette owners on the other hand still want to make sure that you know who has "more power". There is a guy that I see at least once a week on the way to work and if I happen to out manuver him on the interstate in rush hour traffic (not that I would try ) he gets extremely upset and takes the first oppertunity to make sure that I know that his car has more power than mine. I don't ever get into a race type situation with him. If we are at a stop light I just let him take off like a bat out of you know where, it soothes his ego and then he is fine until he see me sprint down the interstate again.

Like a Smaller Cousin?

Most Corvette owners wave and the ones at the car show seem to really like and appreciate the Sky's maybe a little more then the Solstice. I do know calling my Sky a mini Vette seems to ruffle the Corvette owners feathers some
Since we own both, but our Pumpkin corvette is hubby's I have to say to each there own. I love my Skybaby and yes Pumpkin is very nice but its just a different attitude and higher performance car, I don't need all that power. I can keep up with our corvette no problem unless he decides to go over 150mph and since the speed limits here are 65mph I can pass him anytime I want, when he is not paying attention I personally am glad the Sky's format is a roadster just enough difference then the American Dream Sport Car called Corvette maybe 50 years from now us Sky's will get similar respect. "The American Dream Roadster" see that does sound nice

I have already noticed that about Miata and S2000 owners. I guess they are jealous.

hrmm...I get waved at my mustangs all the time. At least I think they're waving. It's this strange wave where only one finger is sticking up. Those GT owners sure do seem like friendly folks!

Here in the OC, it seems, we're all a bunch of snobs. Not much acknowledgement of any kind from other roadster/sports car drivers, especially not the Miatas, Mustangs and Hondas. Usually, I just catch other drivers enviously eyeing my car. Once in awhile someone will stop me in a parking lot and ask me about my car. I always liked show-and-tell!

I have gotten waves from Corvette owners too. Below are pictures of my Sky in a friends garage. He couldn't wait to get me to his house and get my Sky on his lift with his 40th Anniversary Corvette.
