Crooked trunk lid

My trunk is pretty hard to close like many others.... but I'm wondering if mine is even harder to close than most... if I look at the tailights, and compare the gap between the left and right lights I can tell that the lid is deffinately crooked. There is much less gap on the left light.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm starting to wonder if something is happening to the yellow R/L's trunks! Between you, jason (response in the RL forum) and me, that's three of us mentioning a funny trunk from the factory within the last couple of weeks.

What's been working for me is closing it from the front (inside the car)/side high in between the humps, and pushing backwards just a little bit as a I close it. But that's my problem, I don't know if it'll help you.

You might want to just take yours in to the service department to have it looked at though, that sounds like something more screwy.

my trunk is crooked, and it was misaligned to where it was clipping the back. Dealer has new decklid on order for me. Took it in, dropped it off, first decklid defective/damaged. waited 1 week. new decklids at factory all defective. Now waiting for another batch to come in. ridiculous.

btw i'm replacing the entire decklid because they damaged mine when trying to re-align it. looks like people at the plant need to work on some quality issues.

I too have a gap in the trunk lid. I am probably going to take it into the dealer this weekend.

WOW, have a R/L and had the same problem. mine would "pop" as you opened the trunk. rubbing right at the "point" under the spoiler. dealer adjusted it, but it wasnt alligned properly. I re-alinged it my self by loosening the 4 13m bolts. it now looks and works fine. (i also have a plexi windrestricter)

another yellow redline?

I must agree, they seem to be having a problem with aligning these. Have you had a buttress stick yet when you pop the trunk? I know this is a first year car, but the money that you pay for this Saturn, I would expect better. I will post a picture of the dent in my trunk later. Right on the body line too. Closing it from between the humps might be a good idea.

Amazing. I have a meeting tomorrow with the dealer owner to discuss issues with my base SKY, the top and trunk lid being one of my major concerns. Both were not a major issue when i bought the car, VIN 644, delivered 3/25/06. I have only 6k miles but it seems that as time goes on, the top and roof are becoming more out of wack. Air leakage is increasing around the sides, roof liner and outer roof now flapping, deck lid is not alligned and at one point, the right buttress would open on its own while driving. also, i have two wear spots on the roof where the top rests against the rubber stoppers when in the down position within the deck lid. My dealer is great and trying to work with me but at this point, i think it is hopeless. very disapointing since i tried to buy a R/L but they wanted a 5k non refundable deposit, added $2k of access. and were giving me 22k to 23k on a trade. all this after i bought 6 saturns from them.

Mine was just a tad bit unless you knew it was just looking at the car you really couldn't tell.... BUT after I got it back from the shop EVERYTHING on that car is straighter than when I pulled it off the lot that first day.

Had this problem too

My trunk lid was "lifted" on the drivers side and it was enough to notice. The dealer tried a couple of times to re-align and could not get it. They then replaced the cable assembly in the top (buttresses) but it still did not get it all the way. They called Saturn and Saturn recomended replacing the top which they did and it now is perfect. The answer at least in my case was that some tops have had the material cut to short on one side or the other and it causes to much tension on the deck lid. All I can say is they took care of it looks great...no air leaks with the new top.
