&*&(# Cupholder!!

We left the mall last night and I put a full latte in the cupholder near the gear shifter. The first time I came to a stop the cupholder broke in half and the nearly full latte spilled all over the floor.

I was determined not to let it spoil the rest of my 'date night' with my wife, so I didn't examine it, but I'll take and post some pics today.

I guess it goes back in for a carpet shampoo next week...

Mine came apart from a mocha, didn't break. Fortunately I was using a sealed mug. Tech popped it back together. Decided a sealed mug will be the only thing that will go in this cup holder. Good luck with the carpet cleaning.

Ashtray holder

Nobody has mentioned this but, i don't think this was actually meant to be a cup holder. If you bought the smokers package, the holder would fit the ashtray from that kit. I didn't get it but it would make sense- right next to the lighter plug. You have two unhandy cup holders between the seats in a two seat car. Why would they put in a third cupholder? It's too flimsy to hold any kind of drink.

I put a Starbucks Vende Latte in mine two or three times a week, no problems yet.

Very very good point!. I think thats exactly what it was designed for also, a "light weight" ash tray holder, not for a "heavy weight" latte holder--

Mine broke a few months ago when my husband decided to close it with a little "too" much force.... Needless to say, I won't allow him to touch it again. My dealership replaced it (covered under warranty). I use it all the time for my daily Venti Vanilla Latte!! Never had a problem before...

The idea of using it for an ashtray seems crazy to me. I won't allow smokers to have a cigarette anywhere near my car.... Just me...

Cup holder

Yeah I have had mine replaced too at the dealer, the first one wouldn't close all the way. When the two of us are riding together, we use the dual holder, when I am riding solo I use the one up front, makes it much easier to reach it. You just have to learn the limitations of the car. Like a goalie hockey stick will not fit anywhere in the car!!! I won one of the Stockton Thunder goalie sticks that was autographed by the team, well it was given to me after the game this weekend about 10 pm and the only way for us to get it home was to have it sticking out the side window about a foot, boy it was chilly driving home with the window open but well worth my prize!!!!

the rear console cupholders are not much better.

GM should raise the price of the car by $20 and install some good cupholders. the Sky's cheap, junky interior is consistently cited as one of its shortcomings.

not only do i not use my cupholders, but i had to put some mylar tape over them to keep them from inadvertently popping open every time i or the wife brushed them with my/her shoulder or knee.

I constantly hit the one with my right arm/elbow. Drives me nuts. I don't think I'll ever use that one as a cupholder because I'd likely squish the contents of the cup all over myself!

First time my son got in passenger seat, he brushed cupholder with knee and it poppod open. Just after he popped it back in he brushed the one between the seats with elbow and it rolled out on him. All this happened in about five seconds, so he turns to me and says: "I'm being attacked by cup holders". It was funny....and so true.

That's why I got an automatic. Drink in one hand and steering wheel in the other. The designers defininately put in the cup holders as an after thought. They clearly suck! I have learned to just get a bottle with caps and stick it between me and the console.
