New Sky owner and new to this forum. Any reason why after pushing trunk release button why I cannot open the trunk lid? The convertible top RR pins pop up and there is a small opening to try and lift deck lid but it just will not open. Sorry to be stupid but any suggestions as I do not want to cause damage.
One odd thing I’ve found is that “When you unlatch the inside clasp first” (if intending to put the top down) then hit the button – that the trunk lid may not pop clear enough to grab it.
(I also have a wind deflector as gladmaker mentioned)
If the buttresses flip up but the trunk does not open at all, it could be the trunk forward latch. There is a single latch in the center, forward edge of the lid that mates with the forward cable assembly latch point.
If the latch is not releasing, it could be a failure if the relay in the assembly is not activating, or the latch could be jammed. It can fail to release if a rag or other fabric becomes entangled in the latch.
It is more likely that one of the two torsion bars that lift the trunk lid has failed. If you can manually lift the trunk open but it falls closed, it's probably a torsion bar.
I had the same problem when I installed a wind deflector screen. It made the lid too tight to open by itself. I had to use the remote and press the button while lightly pulling up on the lid. I removed the deflector and now have no more problem opening the lid. In your case it may be a misalignment on the lid.
Just picked up my Sky form the dealer and he said that the latch was misaligned. Fortunately I still have 34 more day's left on my original bumper to bumper factory warranty so it was no charge. Thanks for all your help.
