Dents Dings Whatever

Well I have finally come to the relaization that my sky is still a car and things happen when a car is a daily driver

I was backing out of my garage pulling in and out since my wifes car was outside the garage I had to menuever within a tight spot, then I pulled forward a little too far

and

Crack.

I ran into my own freaking garage wall. Cracked my front bumper But the funniest part was.... I laughed said oh well and continued on my way. I figure that down the road when I feel like shelling out a deductible for insurance I will have it replaced

My car has all kinds of beauty marks on it and truthfully unless its major I will fix it when I get a chance here in the next 20 years or so Nothing stays perfect forever

Ouch! Sorry to hear of your little mishap. That stinks.

On another note... how is the "mini Cooper"? And what's up with you not doing T2TR, was looking forward to you leading our pack....

Dont worry I am leading your pack at T2TR druid and I run the route again this weekend. My name hasnt appeared cause I havent paid. I am a slacker on that part. I am looking forward to it only 2 weeks. Clarissa is going with me so I dont get lost again

Lily(Mini Cooper) is great. having a kid is a rough job. She sleeps all night from 9p-7a and in her own crib in her room. She is a great little happy baby girl. I couldnt be prouder of her she is soooo perfect.

It sucks but daily drivers get dinged, ours got it two weeks after we bought it.

I have about 15 rock strikes on my hood. One actually a tri-strike obviously from the same rock (originally) spaced about 2mm apart. I suspect a rock must have fallen off a truck, split into three pieces on impact with pavement and then struck by hood in a formation of three....peeling back the paint and exposing primer. I call it my Klingon strike because the order of the points corresponsds to the orientation of the Klingon crest. It is the most visible of my 15 strikes.

Keep in mind that the distribution of rocks above the ground will increase as you get closer to the ground. Most cars have a front grill, and/or a tighter front hood roll, and are higher off the ground. Hence, the higher density of rocks will either catch these vehicles in the grill or the front part of the hood, or the aero dynamics will carry them to the window or over the top. Not so our SKYs. We will catch most of them ON THE HOOD. This is why my SKY of 8 months and 7000 miles has more hood strikes than my Ford Focus of 2 years and 20K miles.

With the exception of my Klingon strike, none of the other strikes are visible from four feet away from the vehicle...unless you FOCUS on them. Hence, although I'm aware of these 15 blemishes, when it comes to simply looking good driving down the road.....no one else can tell. Once it warms up, I'll have a go at touching 'em up.

I feel your pain. A few days after getting my car, I backed out of my parking space and side swiped a tree. (No brake pressure at start-up) I was devastated at first but figured what the heck, it's got "personality" now with a story to tell. I'm not going to shell out $500. deduct to get it fixed either. The funny thing is that people notice the little ding I have on the side of my door (from my own stupidity) more than they notice the big dent! AND they are practically side by side! Go figure.

I have only had my Sky for a few months, but the very first day on my way home from the dealership I was driving down the main highway here and bang... rock in the windshield. Man was I pi$$ed, big crack across the screen now but what are you going to do. the only sure way is not to drive it at all, and that hardly seems practical now does it.

Not to hijack this thread, but I would not hesitate to file a claim with Saturn. At work, my reserved spot is on a slight decline, if I forget to set the parking brake, I actually roll forward when I start it at the end of the day. In front of my spot is a tree. If I couldn't stop and hit the tree, regardless of how hard, I damn sure would charge Saturn - especially now that it's a known and recognized problem.
