Differential Problems Too

My baby was marking strange noise in the rear when I made a tight turn. Found out this week that I have differential problems. I don't understand the details, but I guess they have to flush some kind of fluid out. They are going to have my car for 3 days?????? Just got it back from the body shop a few days ago. Rear end looks great. Oh Well. Just need it fixed for the rally Sky run next month.

Yeah. Mine went in for the second time Thursday, and they are going to just replace the Differential. I am actually happy about that, because it was doing the shuddering on turns, leaking, and whining at 30-40MPH.

Besides, I am out of town until Wednesday, so my car wil be ready for me when I get home!

I am glad your dealer doesn't have a problem with the V8 being in the car. My dealer would stop me at the door and say no more warranty

My diff is starting to catch to the point where I will chirp my tires from draggin them instead of them rolling

Jayman, I'd rather have a leaking Sky than a dry MX-5 and so would you...secretly!

Jayman,
No thanks! It's about the look and the Sky’s have it. I rather have a broken car then no SKY. You'll miss ya Sky and all the looks you have gotten, even though you won't admit to that. How many turn their heads to check out your ride now????? None.
As long as you love it that's the only thing that matters. Good luck with your car.

Your dealer's point would not hold up. I sent mine in for issues that were clearly documented by GM under various TSBs. The dealer is required to do the service on those parts. If I brought it in and the differential had broken gears, or the transmission was trashed, that would be understandable.

Besides, my dealership is excellent anyway, and they LOVE to work on my car, especially if they get to test drive it.....

I'd probably consider a 2nd generation Sky. As for now i'd rather not own a sky with the rear problems and all. I'm hoping when the 2nd gens come out a lot of these issues are worked out. Keep an eye on your rear, i had mine in for repairs and it broke fairly quickly the second time.
