The original question was ...Is there any function for the little spring doors on the back before the trunk....The answer is yes. The doors spring up for the rear part of the top to rest firmly against the frame. It provides some support for side to side movement of the top when it is up. Now it is a matter of congecture as to allowing air out when closing the trunk lid. Since when they are spring loaded they do NOT serve as an escape for air as the trunk is lowered. The air escapes thru the opening above the license plate area. Iffen your flaps behind the seat actually raise during trunk closing then the spring is weak and needs replacing. The flap does not slow the Sky down in reverse nor is it an airflap for taking off... This is the honest truth from the resident redneck of Skyroadster.com.....Skip....

Well sir my '07 & '08 flaps would open when the trunk was shut and those springs are not weak. And yes those flaps serve more than one purpose.

The only time my flaps open is when the top goes up. When the top is down and I shut the lid, the flaps do not move. Maybe if yours do, something is not quite right...Skip...

The pressure relief valve for the trunk is located behind the trunk liner, just below and to the rear of the child safety release cable on the left side of the trunk.

It also serves as the access to the trunk to reach the release cable from the left rear wheel well to release the deck lid without electrical power. You need to remove the wheel and wheel well liner to access the presure relief valve from the outside.

My 8 year old son wants to believe that they are in fact NASCAR roof flaps for when we spin the car around at 200 MPH. He's 8 so it's understandable..

Sorry, as I said my flaps do not flip up when I close my trunk. All the air goes out thru the opening above the license plate....Skip... and I don't slam my deck lid down...
