Dreaded Engine Misfire
I have been reading this forum for many months and found it quite useful and entertaining while waiting for my Redline to arrive. Well I took delivery on January 29th and because its winter in Michigan, I had to get my car home and in the garage before the snow storm that day. So fast forward to March where we had a beautiful 80 degree day and I was going to take my Redline out so I could experience the same permagrin that many of you talk about while driving your Sky Redline. I start the car up and on comes the check engine light! Rough idling and no power, all this with 20 miles on the car. I call Onstar to have them do a vehicle diagnostics and they come back with a misfire code. I finally got the car towed to the dealership today to have it repaired. Here's my question is for anyone that had the same misfire problem. Is there any chance that this damaged the engine and is there anything I should be discussing with my dealership? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

my engine misfired with about 200 miles on it, in the dead cold of winter.
It has been fine ever since.

I doubt anything was damaged to your engine. A miss fire can occur from gas that has been setting in the fuel line and picking up some moisture. The dealership will just fire it up and let it run a bit and you will get it back. Now as to BabySky, iffen I was your engine I would misfire too from blushing that a rite purty girl had driven me for a while..OMG I can not believe I said that and my delete button does not work...Skip....

LOL Skip...smooth...very smooth...
Anyway, no your engine probably will not be damaged in anyway from a missfire. Now a missfire COULD (note the use of the word COULD) be a sign of larger issues but it sounds like from your case that it could be bad fuel or something of the sort. It's not the missfire that should concern you, but what caused the missfire. It's kind of like a cough. Coughing isn't what makes you feel like crap...it's the flu that causes the cough that is getting to you. Like Skip I'm betting on moisture in the fuel.

I got my Sky back from the dealership and they said it was fouled plugs and replaced them. They aid it could have been from the car sitting for two months. Now I just have to wait for another sunny warm day to get a chance to drive the car. Thanks for all your input.
