Not the ECU necessarily, HOWEVER, the Sky IS equipped with the (EDR) Event Data Recorder which does record data if the car is in a crash. Such as, engine speed (RPM'S), brake application, throttle position, vehicle speed, safety belt usage, airbag readiness, airbag performance, and the severity of the collision.
I suggest you read page 363 of your Sky's manual to get the full scripted. Apparently you need special equipment to read the recorder and I don't believe there is any way for "owners" of the car to reset or clear this information, especially after an accident. (Big Brother is watching)-- This information has been used after an accident to convict a perp and used as evidence to prove that he was speeding big time after a fatal accident down here. He is now in jail. In fact these EDR's are routinely now harvested from fatal accidents to get data that before had to be done using physics by an accident investigator. My advice? don't speed!! and get into an accident is the best defense. We have had a couple of other threads if I recall on this issue & the location in our Sky's in other threads. If the unit is removed if I recall, the car WILL NOT START and is disabled. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong on that point.

Great info, thanks.
How long does the information stay on the EDR? In other words is everything recorded from the time I purchased the car or does it record over itself?

Good question, I really don't know. But I can speculate and guess that perhaps it is like the black box on an airplane. And if you think about it, it probably has a very limited memory to just record the info I posted above.
The question then becomes, "when does it start recording?" "Or is it constantly recording data and overwrites the memory as time passes, sorta like a perpetual loop?" "Or does it just record the data at the time of the accident only?" I don't know, I'll try to see if the answer is available some where-- Here's an interesting PDF http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/edr-sit...esentation.pdf Looks like the info is very limited and apparently only records 5 seconds of info upon impact. Don't know if that time limit has been expanded, but since it is electronics it does have its flaws, like faulty data recorded and loss of power. Looks like what you really want to know is readily available on the WWW. Heres the primary site from which I found the link above. Lots of info here. http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/edr-site/dataformat.html
