Been a while since I've been here. I'm hoping someone might offer a clue as to what may be going on with my 07 Sky Redline (stock) w/68k miles.
Driving in heavy traffic last week, I almost stalled my car (manual, at a stand still, started in second ((wasn't paying attention)). I've never had a car come that close to stalling and not completely stall... anywho, the car didn't stall. Imediately after that, the car start idling much higher than normal (about 1500 rpms). I reved the engine a couple times and the idle returned to a normal range. But, the engine was just louder.... and felt (has continued) a little rough. When I'm cruising in 3rd and 4th gear, the engine is noticibly louder than it was before and feels a little more rough.
The really weird thing is that no engine light has come on.
I took it to my normal mechanic and he said it sounds/feels fine to him, but he has no point of reference. He suggested I take it to a factory dealer/service center. I've had pretty bad experiences at the local Cheverolet dealers. Any suggestions? Any clue what this might be? Turbo is getting normal pressure, and accelleration seems fine. I'm just worried that this could be something that will cause bigger problems (plus I'm not thrilled with the sound/feel).
Every mechanic u take it to will probably say...it sounds fine to me....but the only person who knows this car is YOU. You know it is not normal. If u bring it in...try to QUALIFY the problem and explain what I just detailed...just a suggestion.
Purely guesswork here... but maybe the extra stress in that 'lurch' start broke or damaged something... either an engine mount (maybe), or cracked the exhaust somewhere. Try having someone rev the engine with the hood open and see if you can see 'unwarranted' engine movement or detect where the noise is coming from.. and sniff for exhaust gasses.
Again... just my coupla cents.

Taking a Saturn to any dealership should be a last resort option.

That near-stall situation could have given the onboard computer an embulism.
To fix what may just be an ECU brainf@rt you could disconnect the battery and go for a restart?
It will probably go back to normal with a few turns of the key but if not it maybe that if you felt the engine jump at the near stall you may have had the timing belt jump a bit that would explaine rough and louder idle condition it shouldnt have probably just the ecu trying to compensate for something

this. disconnect the battery, let it sit 10 minutes, then hook it back up and go for a drive. it that doesnt fix it its a mechanical problem.
