Finally Scuffed the Chin

We have owned the corvette for over a year and somehow have not scuffed the front with a curb. I got Skybaby's chin today, and I was paying attention since I was pulling into my favorite East Egypt parking spot at Wally World. One has to stand on your head or lay on the ground to see it but yep scuffed it good. Bought some touch up paint, GM indigo blue not a perfect match put close enough that unless your standing on you head or I just ran over you, well no one will notice. What I have not noticed yet was at least two chips on the lower valance more noticeable then my chin scrape.
Theory or reality check is if I am going to drive the car and enjoy it then it will get chips, dings and chin scuffs, but I still feel bad for pulling in too far this time, only 1540 on the OD.
One automotive store in town will match any GM paint, so to get a perfect match need to get on in and get that correct touch up, dap those white chips so they don't stand out on my midnight blue car.

They Should, but

I will have to call tomorrow and see, I know the Auto stores price is under 10 bucks, will have to see just how much the dealer charges!
I got Skybaby out in the sunshine today and you have to get within about 1 foot from the under side of the front valance to see the fix I did, don't think do many Sky admirers will be down on their knees looking at my car.
I know my Impala Chevrolet dealer sent me free a correct paint touch up within just a couple of months of buying the car.
I used GM paint on my Sunbeam when it was restored so have all the confidence in my local Auto Store duplicating the GM paint, thats their specialty.

I did the same thing to mine a few weeks ago! I was parking at Circuit City to do some Christmas shopping and pulled up to far not even realizing it. I was so upset!!! To see it, you have to be almost down on the ground but, just knowing its there freaks me out!

I have a scuffed chin too. But if it will help any of you feel better, I will be taking my RL into the shop in the next few weeks to hav the whole drivers side repainted!! The dealer was SOOO nice to have detailed it for me during my last visit and buffed (burnt) through the clear/paint in several areas. I wouldn't have been as angry as I am if they would have told me it happened (yes, they had to have known they did it) but I had to get her home and see the screw up in the day light the next day.

Sorry you got your chin scratched. I went to the dealer parts department asking for touch-up paint for my silver pearl and they didn't have any in yet. I thought if I have it, I will never need it! Kind of Murphy's Law insurance!

Mix Match Paint

BlueSkyRl,
Think its bad when the dealer burns you clear coat, our Chevy dealer gave us a free detail job for the corvette, yep brand new car driven all the way from Bowings Green, KY without a scratch and the local dealer scuffed the clear coat on the hood. Made a promise to ourselves NEVER to take it back there - BUT recall on the hardtop. Took it in and they had to replace it, well we thought that would be a whole new top, WRONG. They but a new skin on the existing hard top, with what was suppose to be the same paint. Guess what does not match, YEP the new skin they painted since Daytona Sunset Orange is no longer used was done here and they goofed to much red, its the same paint just a redder hue. So to wrap this up tomorrow we have to drop off our Pumpkin, (write down those miles) and leave it with the careless dealer for 3-days while they attempt to match the paint. They are giving us a car to drive, like we need one with the array of vehicles we own, guilt is a good thing for consumers, just pray they get it right and no other oops happens to our Pumpkin.

Don't know what it costs, but your Saturn store should have touch up paint available. It's just another GM color, so I'd think any GM dealer might actually. I grabbed my Midnight Blue touch up paint for ref. It's labeled "GM Vehicle Care" "1#12346575 Code 25 WA 722J", although the paint code of 25U is probably enough.

scratched mine too

I scratched my chin too - on a steep driveway. Need to always remember to try and angle the car on a slope! It's just painful to even think about!!

Is it easy to scuff the chin even if you drive slow over speed bumps?

The chin is in front of the car and most speed bumps are not that high. What you hear scraping is the black airdam that is within 3 inches of the pavement and directs the flow of air under the Sky to the radiator...Look under the car and you will see what I am talking about...Skip....
