FIRST Place!!!!

Sapphie (short for Sapphire) went to her very first judged car show today.
She won first place for 2000&up!!!
She beat out several ricers, a couple of 'Vettes, along with several other misc. newer vehicles!

My PermaGrin seems to be getting bigger - something I did not think was possible.

Congratulations! I also won 1st in a Car Show on Saturday although they wouldn't allow my car to be in the same category as the Vettes and they didn't have a late model class, so they put me in the "special interest" category.

However, my 1st Place was in the Ladies Choice.

whats done to your car? no offense, but from what i see you have seat belt extenders and a sticker on your brake light. what did they base their judging on?

No offense taken.

The main reasons I think Sapphie won is :

1) I was knowledgeable about my car when being asked questions - enough to the point that one of the judges asked me if I worked at a dealership. (The answer to that one was a resounding "Good God No"! LOL)
And I think that the fact that I am female who can talk car did not hurt, either. I did notice that in my particular category, that there were very few owners that knew much about thier cars other than how to start them.

2) Most of the cars in the 2000+ category had done little to nothing extra. But I feel that my trump card was that the SKY RL is just not as common as the Corvettes, Hondas, Mitsubishis (sp?), PT Cruisers, etc. that I was up against. It is a beautiful SKY RL and nobody there had ever actually seen one in person. Rarity & beauty counts. And Sapphires are beautiful gems.

Congratulations to you !!!

Question of curiousity here: What was the category they put the Corvette's in?

I have been involved in restoring & showing cars for years and Corvettes are usually in one of the following categories (dependent on show rules):
Sports Car
Era (50's / 60's / 70's, etc)
Convertible
Special Interest

Which my RL could currently be entered in any of the first three & possibly even the fourth one dependent on the particular shows rules.

You won competing against a couple of corvettes!? That's awesome! Congratulations and thank you on behalf of Sky owners everywhere. I became infatuated by the design, but have fallen in love with how it drives. The power is awesome and the car just hugs the road in the curves and loves to go, go, go! Congrats, again!

Congratulations! I also won two trophies for my Sol GXP at a carshow a couple weeks ago. The show was all weekend with trophies on both days. I won Saturday and Sunday for my class "96-current GM".
