On my way in this morning I was a lane over and to the rear of an Evo… or something smelling of soy sauce. After stopping at the next light, the light turned and the chopstix took off and all I could hear is the tinny sound of his flatulent pipe. I was thinking… I’m on the fence over purchasing a HF cat and was wondering whether my Sky would sound the same… which is the absolute last thing I want for my Sky.
So the question is, will a HF cat change the nationality of my exhaust node? I know the Sky will never sound like my SS, but I also don't want it sounding like that Evo either.
I have the same setup as Tech God and it is definitely not fart pipe sounding.
But you did allow me to segway into a very funny Gif I found a while ago

I have the stock redline exhaust, will that effect the sound any?
Firstly, that's not my setup, just a video i saw on youtube. I just got my car so I'm still stock haha.
Secondly yes it'll sound different with the stock exhaust, but if anything should just be a bit louder than stock with no major tonal difference based on other cars i've heard with JUST a high flow cat, so I'd say go for it.
I ran a Solo HF cat on my car for several years, with a Magnaflow cat back. It was too quiet for me. Even at WOT it was not overly loud. It never sounded offensive or river.

Also watch your mouth about stock block evos... they will stomp a sky out all day!
Not sure I agree with that comment for stock to stock comparos. What I've read is that a stock Evo will turn high 13's and low to mid 14's depending on the driver (some even in the 15's). I believe that's in line with a Redline with comparable driver's as posted on the board.

Love the sky and will be getting one at some point, but I can appreciate the evo for what it is. a pretty fast family hauler. I'd get one if I needed to put kids in the back. no kids yet and we have my wifes Jeep patriot for when we do have em so I continue my quest for the Sky.
I have to say I'm a ex-ricer, semi-ashamed to say. Had a 93 prelude all modified and such, love that car (still have it in my uncles back yard about dead after 220K miles) ok I've officially gone off on a tangent.
I hope you get your exhaust and love it!
Ive never come across an Evo on the street I could not take.
Those 10 second 1/4 mile ones are purpose built, few and far in between and not a normal example. Most are poorly done and just one over rev from a blown engine
and not matter how fast
