Found a Hole in SkyFury

Is this normal? SkyFury has a gap, next to the liscense plate light area, and a hole from that gap then goes up into the trunk area. Is this gap normal or did someone forget to add a gasket or cover plate for the liscense plate light area. The hole, which I can see daylight looking from the trunk area, could be normal, but the gap, at the plate that lets the light in, doesn't seem right. It looks to me like water can get up into the trunk from there. See pic below. Anyone know if this is normal, do others have this gap and or hole?

The gap is normal. Shut your trunk and see the air come out there. And no, water will not get into it unless you submerge the Sky in water. And no even a carwash, high pressure at that, gets up in there...Skip...

Maybe that's the ventilation hole that has to go along with the emergency trunk release.

That way you won't die of asphyxiation while you're contortioned into the trunk with your feet at the side of the trunk that has the release and no way to reach it with your hands.

Thanks Skip, Mike and others who posted replies. I feel better knowing the actual nature of this hole has a purpose and that water doesn't actually get up in there, without a dunking that is. Though it does make me think that this is just a cheap fix for exhausting air from the trunk when you close it. Saturn should have at least made it look presentable, the gap does not have to look as is to deal with the exhausting of air when you close the trunk. How expensive is a grated type vent cover in that area. But now, after reading Ahnuld's thread, about the exhaust fumes, I think it should have been a sealed trunk with some type of exhaust valve system (which would of course added more cost), but eliminated the fume issue. At least an air flow type system that vents naturally out while you drive and allows the air to escape when the trunk is closed. That might have dealt with the trunk heat issues too. I will have to think about this and how to make it look, well better. Might be one of my first mods, although no one will see it.

Ahnuld, np on the spin off thread. Good post. Thanks, it got me thinking.
