Gas Shortage!

HELP! I am living in Georgia and we are having a gas shortage. It was really bad a few weeks ago, but now there is only 87 octane gas available. I have been forced to put in the low grade gas just to be able to drive. But here's the kicker.... I thought I'd be smart and add an octane booster.... WRONG! I added STP octane booster to two tanks of 87 and THEN read the manual. STP octane booster contains MMT (? whatever that is ?) and the manual specifically states not to use MMT.

Here's my dilema.... do I put up with the very obvious degredation in performance and not put in the octane booster using 87 gas, or do I silence the slight ticking sound by adding the octane booster when the manual says not to? I have used the booster in one full tank, and just filled up today and added it again. Is this going to hurt my car in the long run? I don't want to damage my baby (and SAPFYRE IS my baby).

HHHEEEELLLLPP!!!!

87 octane fuel runs just fine in the Sky. I switch between 87 and 91 octane all the time and don't see a major difference, except I get better gas mileage with 87!

Also, if you've been running the octane booster for a while and haven't seen problem, just finish off the tank with it and then don't add any more if you are worried about it.

GreenDevil:

Don’t sweat the 87 octane; your RL should be fine w/o the octane booster as long as you're not auto crossing or racing. We've essentially been out of premium gas in Birmingham for several weeks now (since Hurricane Gustav) and just found the first 91+ octane gas Wednesday night. I've run 3 full tanks of regular through my RL since 9/5/08 w/o a problem. I've experienced no

as you feared. I would stay away from anything with MMT and don't use any gasoline with an ethanol content of more than 10% (E-85 ethanol = BAD for the sky RL).
