Go the way of the Triumphs and Heralds?

Obviously those are british cars and the Solstice and Sky are American, but does anyone else think they might go the way of those cars? Not anytime soon of course. But popular when they are first made, but much further down the line, not too terrible expensive to buy but not dirt cheap, and will have a dedicated following?

British Iron

Sunbeams you forgot the Sunbeams

I hope so at least I will be dedicated owner for the Saturn Sky, since I am already a dedicated owner of a Sunbeam Alpine.

You also forgot MGB,Fiat Spyders and Austin Healey.

Now the Fiat Spyders pull a premium. Not as good as the early 90's when they when German buyers were picking them up for 9-15K here and selling them in Germany for 3 times the price.

i know but you guys got my point. the reason i thought of it was because i was thinking how big the Sky is compared to the Triumph TR6, which my buddies mom has and his dad just got done completely redoing. I think it'd be really cool if they went that way

What got me into a Sky was my '72 Triumph Spitfire. It was a blast. Looked into getting an old Spitfire, and found out that you pretty much have to buy the old pre-smog models, since there are no manufacturers of CA government-acceptable aftermarket smog equipment for the "newer" ones. Gotta say - my Sky kicks @$$ on the old red Spitfire, though the Spitfire cost me well under a grand in 1979. Pip pip Cheerio!

Classic Z's and Mini's in good shape are demanding some serious cash now too.

Have a 77 Spit sitting in the yard under a car cover. All it needs is a paint job. I rebuilt it completely 10 years ago. Less then 5000 miles since the rebuild and a complete new interior at the time. It's a sweet running car, but hasn't seen the light of day since I brought G8TR home on March 18. Poor baby, not sure how to tell her she's been kicked to the curb.

The basic difference will always be that while the build quality of the kappa is unremarkable, the Spits, Spiders,
x-1/9's etc. were simply dreadful. There is legend in notariety. Ray

No Smog rules here in Oklahoma

For those of us living in a state that did away with vehicles inspections the British Iron are a joy to work on and keep running, it is a basic very simple engine, no computer chips in my Sunbeam no ECB flashes to take her in for just need an old fashioned timing light and your good to go. Non of that smog junk on my Alpine, so what if I get a puff of black smoke out the tail pipe when I romp on her and she leaks oil like a gang buster how many Sunbeam Alpines have you seen in your neighborhood?
I do hope the Sky will have a similar following in 2027 when they reach the 20 year old classic car time frame, wonder how strict the EPA will be then?
I need to fire up the old 64 Sunbeam Alpine and cruise the block if it ever stops raining here

If you can find a Brit car with stock wiring - buy it. You will probably have a one of a kind, rare car.

Perception, is a key motivator in sales and hobby collecting.

If you think it will be worth money, remain super fast in its class, makes you feel young or successful, possibly beautiful beyond words, maybe that future project once you retire .. but whatever it is ... you hang onto it for years.

And more often, our precious items generate more memories than money.
So I drive it like I stole it and try to enjo each and every day.

Guess I need to uncover the Brit and show it some love too. I'll take a couple of pics and post them with it.

Here's a shot of my 74 TR6. Only regret is that I had to sell it to get the Sky, couldn't afford both. Yes it leaked oil, (we used to say it was British rust proofing!) The good thing is that it has very basic mechanical/electrical systems and the majority of parts are still available. I plan on keeping the sky for a long time but the complexity of the systems puts repairs way out of my ability.
