Hello & Intro

Just thought I'd stop by and say hello.

I've been interested in the Sky since I first saw it, it's a great looking car!

I'm currently drive an '06 Z06 and have decided to look into the Sky since mine won't allow for top down driving which I really miss when the weather is nice. I'm still trying to get up to speed on the car and this looks like a great place to start.

Thanks, you guys are really lucky to have such a sharp looking car!

Let me be the first to welcome you to the forum. I have been wanting a Sky for quite some time as well. I had some things I needed to take car of. I have one more thing to take care of. I hope to order mine in time to get it by late March or I might just buy one from dealers that have them on the lot.(If I can wait that long!)

I've managed to find one that has everything I want except the Black & Red Leather.

There are quite a few of us 'Vette/Sky (or Sol) owners. They go well together.

If you're looking for top down fun driving, you can't beat the SKY.

The Z06 is a monster performer. However, unless you are a vette fan or into performance cars in general, all you see is another "vette". So the Z06 is sort of the show car for the performance genre (those in the know....know).

The SKY is a couple of notches down in the performance range compared to the Z06, but it more than makes up for it in pure unadulterated sex appeal. It is the eye catcher for the everybody else genre. I've had mine for two months. EVERY DAY someone will comment on it, or ask questions. At store. Crosswalk. Gas Station. Drive thru. Stop light. Folks hanging out widows of cars with thumbs up.

Well, you're at the right place. Explore the forum and watch the back and forth. The SKY has its share of nuances. It is a very touchy feely car, and can be a bit finiky in some areas. Learn about the blemishes and what not, and make an informed decision. As for me, the little things that might annoy some folks I find give the car a pesonality. So the cons can become pros with the right attitude, and the basic pros (joy to drive and lovely to look at) pretty mush swamp everything else.

One caution note. I came from the sedan crowd into the SKY. The performance is a major step up for me, and is an integral part of my own personal wow factor. Coming from a Z06 down to the SKY probably won't add a wow factor, at least not in the raw performance category.

HELLO & Welcome to the Forum

I have both a SKY R/L & '07 Z06 in my stable, and I think they are a compliment to each other, the best of both worlds so to speak While the SKY doesn't have the brute power of the Z, it more than compensates with it's spirited handling and top down enjoyment It also performs the 1/4 mile very well.

I see in your signature Dallas, do you live in the Metroplex? Do you race your Z?

PM me if you want my phone #. Be glad to chat with you Your are more than welcome to check out my R/L

Hello Ernest!

I haven't raced my Z......yet. I do have some mods on it via 21st Century Musclecars. I'm at about 475-480 rwhp at the moment.

I'd love to see your R/L!

Thanks to everyone else for your replies. While performance is a concern (that's why I'll do the R/L), I'm mainly interested in top down fun when the weather's nice, something the Z can't provide in it's current trim.

Welcome aboard...everyone will try to answer your questions honestly...keep in mind though that we are SKY lovers. I have the SKY RL for a summer car...the top is seldom up and I love it on the back roads of WI...for the winters I have a BMW Z8 with 394 hp for some raw power on the straight and flat roads of FL...and the top is seldom up on the Z8...so I have the best of both worlds...

You should race your Z it is a real hoot I am currently making 490/462 with intake, tune and headers. I use Quality Motorsports in Lewisville, Pat really know how to pull power out of LS motors.

At present I am upgrading to an even larger clutch. Talk to you soon, will call again

Having had the pleasure of Driving Ernest's Z06, Redline, and my own modified na. Driving the sky will be a distinct break from the performance of the Z06. If you are looking for the street legal enjoyment of top down unmodified driving, then the redline is a great choice.

If I had my choice, I would purchase another low mileage na, and go for either the Mallet LS2 or Haln stage 4 upgrade. I really enjoy the power I am getting over the stock na. There are those times I had more, but I have specific reasons to not turbo my Maria.

Good luck with your decision. See you on the road.

That is exactly what I'm looking for. I'd never trade for my Z, but on a day like today I really miss driving in an open car. I could just take the top off of my C4 or C5, but not the C6 Z.

I don't expect Z06 performance, but I expect more than "grandpa's Buick" too.

And I would imagine that by this time next year the aftermarket should have a lot of goodies ready for it.
