help! 2008 is coming

ok i was looking at getting a silver graphite but it will be no more in 2008

I noticed if i order now i can hopefully still get a 2007 silver graphite...

Heres what i need help with... money

Ok i won't have enough money for the down payment i want/need until about august.

1) can i order it now and pay later other than security deposit prob will need down? need security deposit for order?

2) how long will it take to come in will it take that long to get one anyways?

3) what will happen if i order it and turns out i can't afford it? will i be charged? lose security deposit if had to put one down?

4) is there way to choose it to built as late as possible?

plz help me

i could always fall back to a blue or green but i like how the silver graphite looks more upscale.

Sorry, but I don't think they are taking anymore orders for 2007. The only way I see you getting a Silver Graphite is if you happen to find one in a dealers allotment that isn't spoken for or was declined. I ordered a Silver Graphite on April 16 and it should be at my dealer tomorrow. I'm sure there might be a Silver Graphite out there for sale. I don't think it will hang around till August though. Good Luck with your Silver Graphite search.

The above post is correct. Order now or later SIlver Graphite is done.

1 - You will need a $500 deposit in most cases, depends on the dealer

2 - The new orders are being told 4 - 8 months depending on local dealers allotments.

3 - If you are turned down for financing most dealers will refund deposit. There are a few stories of horror's getting it back. Make sure to ask the dealer and have it written in big letters on your order receipt. "100% Refundable Deposit"

4 - It gets built when it is built, there is no control. You know how murphy works, if you want it, it will take forever, if you wnat it to come later, you will be the first one to get one in 4 weeks!

You can't order one now but you might be able to find one on a dealerships lot. They start making 2008's this week.

My opinion, wait until August to place the order. It makes no difference now since 07's are done. You are not going to order Silver Graphite anymore. Might as well wait until you are able to afford the car.

If you don't think you can afford it, then I wouldn't order one. With no down payment your monthly payments will probably be $500 or more a month. And that is going for 60 months. The Sky is a beautiful car, but it is just a car. No reason to mess up your credit. Believe me it won't look as cool when the Repo man come to pick it up.

i emailed local dealer they said 6 months. they also seemed to be clueless about color being discontinued and said it was one of their top sellers. i planned on putting a 10,000 down payment to lower it to around 200 some a month

You might want to spend a little time playing with the numbers. There are lots of auto loan calculators available to help you. I like the one at edmunds.com (http://www.edmunds.com/apps/calc/Cal...ktid=ga9911315), which I used to check out your numbers. According to that, if you buy a base Sky for $25K, add 7% PA sales tax, pay any fees such as title, registration, etc. out of pocket, get the same interest rate I did (4.9%), and put down $10,000, your monthly payment on a 5 year loan would still be $315- 50% higher than you seem to be planning.

I'd like to see you get the car, but wouldn't want you to get in over your head to do it. Real numbers will go a long way in helping you figure out if you can swing it. Good luck!

I would agree. Those numbers do not add up. Unless you are planning to Lease the vehicle or have a trade in that we are unaware of.

ReedRed is right on. Your looking about $350 + a month on a base unit. Don't confuse WANT with NEED. Also remember to factor in a price increase for '08 models.

The Silver Graphite is gone in '08 and being replaced by a darker color that's a little more smokey gray. It's a new color being used on the VUE. Unless you find an '07 sitting on a dealer lot, forget it.

Sky folklore has it that Silver Graphite was the least produced color in '07 but among the most requested. (pure rumor mill on my part so feel free to correct me).

As far as top sellers, my guess would be Red or Silver, followed by black. Regarless of personal choice of color they all look great.

I sure hope it works out for you.

Then there's insurance $75/month? Maybe more for a 23 year old on a new sports car? Plus annual license fees. Oh, and of course gas and maintenance. Truthfully - with $10k down, on a 5 year deal, this car will cost at least twice what you're expecting to pay every month. At least twice.

And that's for a totally impractical, "base" model that's really best suited as a 2nd car.

Generally you can figure $18.00 per thousand financed for a quick calculation

Silver Graphite is being replaced by Techno Grey. It is a little darker and maybe a little less metallic.

If you want to see what it looks like, it is currently available on the Aura.

That would make a little more sense then as to how it would only be $200 / month.

On another note, I once leased a Mitsubishi Eclipse just because I really wanted the car and could not afford the payment to buy it. Let me just say that leasin is probably the biggest waste of money unless you own a business or can somehow write off the lease. You might as well be renting the car. You are throwing your money away and at the end of the lease you have nothing to trade. You can buy out the car but the buy out price is usually much more than the car is worth.

actually - leasing is just a fancy name for renting. it's a commitment to "rent" for a specified period of time. (ever signed a "lease" on an apartment?) they're not necessarily a bad thing - provided you're prepared to hand in the keys and walk away at the end of the term. another downside is the mile limitation - they can be restrictive, and very expensive if you exceed it. but it's true, at the end of the lease period, you own nothing.

by end lease period im usually ready for new car anyways hehe prob for newest model. would be like $302 for base with what i want and $342 for redline. I got an estimate of what insurance would be like on the base and it would be like $200 a month.

So like $502 for base a month $542 for redline
I make like $600-$700 a month at my current job and am hoping to get this new job where I will be fulltime and make more.

my dad is talking to me about maybe a civic si

which insurance would be like $212
not sure how much a month for payment it says can't put more than 20% down of what car is worth

but it would be like 26,650$ for civic si
$27,100 for sky base without auto about 29,000 with about $31,000 or less for redline

these arn't exact but some numbers

so the base redline and civic si with what I want kind of come close price wise. pay lil more for sky monthly lil more for civic si insurance..

any insites?

When I first started reading this thread, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt, and assumed you must have the means to buy a new car. But as of the "600 - 700" comment above, I've decided that you are putting the cart way way in front of the horse. You need to slow down and think about what else you need money for...

insight?? yeah, I got some...like how old are you?? and just how long do you plan to live with your parents? @ 600-700 a month ( is that your take home or your gross?? ) you have no business thinking about a car like this... I got news for ya...100-200 left over would just about cover gas and proper maintenance. So you have the cool car and you get some attention, but now you're flat ass broke and couldn't buy your date something off the $1 menu at McDonald's let alone a movie ticket.

Not to mention, as soon as you step out from under your parents wing, you wouldn't have any money to pay the rent and it damn sure wouldn't put food in your mouth, or pay the electric, gas, water, cable, phone, etc, etc...you'd
