Interior Carbon Fiber

This is a work in progress, but couldn't help sharing what it looks like so far. After I get my leather dash from JPM, I'll be able to put everything together and finish the carbon fiber. I don't want to get antsy and do it without everything exactly where it's supposed to be.

It's a 51 piece kit. I decided so far to not do the upper dash vents, the door handles, door pulls, or the steering wheel buttons. The kit comes with both sides of the steering wheel covers, but I only have the left-side buttons. Not symmetric enough for me. Also, the passenger door handle didn't open because the fiber got in the way, so I took them both off.

That's my daughter "working" under the steering wheel. I need to tuck that piece under on the top right of the storage compartment. It was just a hair too long.

More to follow.

I alternate among dressing like a construction worker, cop, sailor, and an Indian/Native American (for the PC police).

Ok, I guess I lied. I found some more pieces I could put on in the interim. It's looking nice.

It is so hard to photograph due to the reflectivity!

You did the opposite of me. I have a SIlver Car with Red/Blk carbon Fibre and you have the Red Car with regular Carbon Fibre.

Here are a few shots of the Red/Blk on my silver redline.

I looked at this product but was hesitant, this is the 3m stuff. If someone offered actual carbon fiber components that would be worth big money to me.

I just worry that when you get close it may look cheap, i'll ask you guys, how does this actually look

Looking at these pics has made up my mind. I plan to order a kit of Real Brushed Aluminum for my car. I'm not a big carbon fiber fan -- but the kit looks good in your car.

Question for you and JEL... Who is the vendor and how much for carbon or aluminium kits? Web links please. Thanks!

It is very subjective, and by the way, it is REAL CARBON FIBRE with a Resin over the top. Some people do not like the glossy shine of the resin, but most forum members that see it say it looks way better in person than in pictures.

Sorry for the delay. I was away on business. The pictures using a flash will make it look more "blingy" than it actually is. The picture I took through the windshield of the storage area was without a flash. The company was mentioned above in one of the messages. The prices depend on if you get the real carbon fiber or another option. There's also number of pieces options with each kit, so the price will vary. Mine was about $300/305 and I think it was the 51 piece kit.

One option I'd like to see is for the right side of the steering wheel to be solid for those of us with only left side steering wheel buttons. The kit comes with a left and right side piece, but both for buttons. I don't want just the left side covered with the carbon fiber. Another problem I ran into is the door handle piece on the passenger side was catching on the surrounding door panel, so I didn't use that piece on either side. I tried moving it forward, but it was too excessively forward for it to work.

I used my space heater (instead of a heat gun because I had it turned on in my cold garage) on a couple of the pieces before putting them on. I recommend using a heat gun for some of the tricky pieces. And the outer round part that goes on the center of the steering wheel was surprisingly difficult because it wanted to keeping coming off due to its shape, so use the adhesive there. Also, disconnect the battery unless you have neighbors who don't mind hearing your horn for 10 minutes while you're working that area.

And thanks for the kind words
