"It's Raining SKYS" at Dealers

Not sure if this is just a coincidence, but in the past week, I've seen 4-5 Skys for sale at Dealers in Torrance and Huntington Beach. Does this mean they are now more available than before? Hmm

Here in NE Flordia SKY's are still an order only item with few exceptions. Have been seeing more base units available at dealers from trade-in for RL ordered.

I had service done on Monday here in Maryland and was told there is now an 18 month wait for new orders at all 5 dealerships!

8-9 month wait

Here in Lexington, KY the dealers are telling buyers at least 8-9 month wait on a Redline.

I have never seen one on the lot here in Little Rock. Unless of course it is one awaiting pick-up.

Makes you think that maybe Saturn needs to adjust their allocation strategy. If there are that many cars sitting on lots in California and every other state has waiting lists, then maybe they should be giving fewer allocations to california and spread them out elsewhere.

Those dealers that are charging over MSRP for nothing, will, no correction, ARE being punished by not getting any allocations--

Most of my local dealers have at least one base and one redline each on their lots as of 6 days ago.

Hey Eddiepear, my father went to the Saturn Dealer in Lexington back in October and they told him he couldn't order a Redline due to the fact he didn't live in Lexington. He ended up going to one of the Saturn Dealerships in Cincinnati and placed his order for his Redline. He still has about 4 more weeks (according to the dealer) before his will arrive. He's going crazy waiting for this thing. This is him ---> lol

My local dealership had 4 redlines and 2 base skys the other day.

I'm trying to find a dealer that I can order a 2008 redline from that won't insist on adding $2500 worth of "add-on" crap.

Anyone had success at getting the dealer to sell them a "clean" sky ?

Thanks.

Oh how I wish dealers here had them on the lot. The order process is getting frustrating.

I bought mine last year from dealer in Orange Park, FL.

No add on's forced on me, except what I wanted to add. No premium add on price, just started from MSRP negoitated final price and then put my trade-in on the deal. No pressure on the deal. The whole process was clean, sweet and I got the car I wanted delivered 7 weeks later.

I'm not seeing Sky's on the lot longer than a day or two but I am seeing a TON of SOL's sitting. There is one Pontiac dealer I pass atleast 4 times a week & they have one in every color just sitting in the front. So I did stop and drove around the lot to see if maybe they just have a surplus & just "refill" the color when one sells. The GM happened to be there & saw me pull up.... long story short he said no they were the same ones they had sitting there for a few weeks now.

Not Raining Redlines Here

Ordered my 2008 Redline last week in AnnArbor MI. They were happy to take my deposit...but said they would inform me on pricing and date of order when they get that info. The sales manager said to expect a December delivery. I think she was ' guessing' at this information at this time.

Yeah I seen 4 skys at the lot in Saturn of Cerritos when I dropped off my car for service 2 days ago.... 2 of them were redlines, the GM told me they on the lot because the people who ordered them wanted 2008 models instead.

Yeah, I ordered one at Quantrell at the end of March -- they said it could be 90-180 days, or as long as 9 months (I'm on day 57). They called me Saturday AM to say they had a Chili Pepper R/L on the lot, but it's probably sold by now. I'm just going to wait for my order.

I went over to look at it on Monday night after seeing you post about it and they had already closed shop, but you could see it inside the detail bay. Nice car, but Red just isn't my cup of tea.

As for my father ordering from them, they wouldn't allow him to order from them because he didn't live in Lexington and they didn't think it would be fair to the people of Lexington. The problem with that is.. they are the closest Saturn Dealership to him. ~2 hours drive for him.

It's cool though, he has his on order and it should be here soon. He's just waiting patiently.

I found a dealer who (on the phone anyway) says that I can order a 2008 redline and not have to pay for dealer "add-ons".

I'll be driving down there on Saturday. If his claims hold up, I'll be putting down my deposit.

Seems silly that I've had to hunt for a dealership that will sell me a car at "just" MSRP. So much for no-haggle pricing....

For what it's worth

The largest volume Saturn dealer in the nation is out in the Buffalo N.Y. area. They usually have 20, or more, Sky's on the lot. Look them up on the net. I almost got one from them and I live in California. They can deliver to your door for $1,200 or less depending on distance. They sell at MSRP plus accesories, no markups.

For you left coast dwellers I got mine at Saturn of Santa Maria. They always have several on the lot or in the pipe. No markups and they will deliver the car for free anywhere in California. The L.A./ Orange County area is crawling with them. All you have to do is start calling. It took me 8 phone calls and I found the exact car I was looking for. A woman in the small town where I live was admiring the car and said she was on a 5 month waiting list at a dealer in Nevada. I told her where to look and 2 days later she drove up in a new Sky. Now we have an official club of two!

So...... How bad do you want one? Hummmmmm.......
