Most ridiculous thing you've had a dealer tell you or someone else?

I was just going over some of the threads and there seem to be some where dealers have denied warranty for no good reason or told people some pretty ridiculous things.

I don't intend for this to be a dealer-bashing thread so no need for the names of the dealerships, but what's the most ridiculous thing or just outright wrong info you've heard come from a dealer?

When I bought my 07 Sky, the dealer told me that installing an aftermarket stereo would void my ENTIRE warranty. Then when I asked about whether the car came with a spare or not, they said no, but that the tires on it were run-flats.

Cerritos Saturn Rude/mean/crazy

I was mistreated by the Cerritos Saturn dealer, when I spoke with the owner/Gen manager, he said" I care about my employees more than customers, they can yell at you if they want to, I dont want your business anyway", too bad I had already purchased my Skyy from them..My husband wants one also, but we are not buying it there!!!!
Dont go to CERRITOS SATURN!!!!!

OH MY GOODNESS! Now that might just take the cake. That is just sooo uncalled for and just so nasty. Well I guess I have a few lovely sayings the dealership told me over the process of getting Sinister... but why rehash it all now. I have my pretty little girl and have a new dealer that will do work on her. It was what it was & nothing is going to change the fact I still got her no matter what nasty things those mean people said to me.

All the Saturn dealers in Orange County are owned by the same person. If I were you, I would call Saturn corporate customer service and report your mistreatment by Saturn of Cerritos. I wasn't treated very well by Saturn of Santa Ana and I called Saturn Corporation to voice my dissatisfaction. They were very apologetic and said they would look into the situation. I think I got a call from Saturn of Santa Ana's customer service manager within a day or two. After that, one of the managers called me from the dealer, offering to buy me a steak dinner or anything else that would in some way change my opinion of them. What they're really concerned about is Question #14 on the Saturn satisfaction survey. They will try to get a favorable answer at all costs. They have tried to make it up to me and I will give them a second chance, but I still don't think I would ever purchase another car from them.

WELL not a Saturn dealer... but a few times in my Pontiac the seat out of nowhere would spring back and it would go so far back and I was soo short for the car it would make my feeties go off the peds....

I had a dealer tell me that is normal for cars to that, yet everytime I took it they fixed it. LOL

in my case, it hasnt been a flood, but there has been a trickle of women thats found their way to me. actually only a couple are a direct result of the car. the others i guess can smell that im a bachelor again and see my confidence has gone through the roof since i started taking better care of myself.

I had a salesperson tell me that the trunk would close easier if you open the compartment on the waterfall between the seats.

Well all know how that worked out (sorry). "Yeah, it's exactly the same. Only different."

Nissan

Vehicle would not always start - key recognition problem.

Dealer said carry two keys, I went nuts and told him I was not going to carry two keys and he would fix it of give me a NEW vehicle.

They fixed it. I hate dealers.

This goes way way back to the begining when my dealer would tell me "They haven't started producing the cars yet, we'll know as soon as they start."

And then I'd take in photo's from the plant with 1000 cars sitting there, built...

And then, thanks to some great people that helped me track my car on here...

Dealer Wed Morning "We show that your car still hasn't been built... we'll let you know"
Friend from here wed afternoon "Um, we show your car in transit for delivery to the dealer"

So I called back the dealer...
Told them that my car was made, gave them my VIN, and told them it should be showing up within the hour to their dealership.
They told me my info was wrong...

an hour later my salesman calls back...
Um.. your car just arrived. Come and get it

This was mostly because of the fiasco of changing their software tracking system from the saturn one, to GMWorld.

I was at a car show in June here in Georgia and had another Sky owner tell me that his dealer had "fixed" his leaking differential by installing a small tube to drain the fluid away from the differential so it would drip on the ground. (ie: no evidence)

He was an older gentleman and took the mechanics word that this would "fix" the problem. Obviously, the grinding began as the fluid level dropped and the problem got worse so he took it to another dealership. This time, the Service Manager looked at the differential and the hose that had been installed by another dealership.

This dealership repaired the problem and, according to the elderly man, the Service Manager and the mechanic at the other dealership were both fired.

For me it would be that my driver door has been hitting the front panel and chipping the paint on the door and panel, told the dealer about showed them the paint coming off and was told that the door is still with in specs and they were not going to adjust it. Go figure

Close to the same thing. I was in dealership drooling over a Blue Stone with cashmere interior. The salesperson says to me "go ahead and sit in it" so I did. I even fired up the engine. I asked if we could take it out for a drive. The answer was no. I wanted it so bad I told the salesperson I wanted to order one. I was told that's impossible as Saturn wasn't yet building the car for the public. So I asked where did this one come from. "Oh it's the owners". Soooo, how did the owner get one if they aren't building them yet. The reply was "That's a good question and when the owner comes in I'll ask him". I left there before my head exploded and called Saturn Corporation. They told me they had already produced and delivered over 3,000 Sky's nationwide and four of them went to that very dealer. I went back to the dealer (like a dumb a$$) and sure enough there were three other cars parked out back. I found that salesperson to ask what about those other cars out back and was told they were pre-production cars not for sale but for promotion purposes. Needless to say that person no longer works there.
