My Baby Is Damaged!!!

I was driving down the highway just after dark. A car was starting to pass me on the right when all of a sudden there is this HUGE car bumper in the middle of my lane! All I could do was hold on tight, listen to my wife use the word $hit a couple of times and try to center up and not let it hit my tires.

To make a long story shorter, it almost ripped off the entire front bumper, tore the passenger side marker off and scuffed/scratched the entire passenger side of the car as it passed underneath. Additionally, something bounced up into the engine compartment and tore a huge hole in the engine cover fabric attached to the underside of the hood.

I am sooooooo sick and po'd right now!

She just turned 1 year old on 9/1. She's NEVER been in the rain, cleaned every night, and down right babied always. Now she's hurtin' real bad.

I stopped by the dealer out here (which kinda scares me because they aren't the greatest). They did indicate that I might be able to trade her in on a new one since the GMAC financing is still going on and they have some killer financing deals. That's a slight plus, but I'll have to wait until Monday now and I can't drive her in the condition she's in.

To anyone who cares, thanks for listeni...err, reading.

Ouch. Hurts just to read about it. That's the risks we have to take to take our cars out an enjoy them, though. Doesn't make it any better I know, but good to hear no one got hurt.

Damn that blows. I remember listening to the radio one morning and hearing about a mattress on a freeway in LA county. That's really jacked. Hope you get her back quickly! Keep us posted.

It wasn't my Sky, but years ago I ran over a box spring, same thing, nowhere to go. Tried to get it unhitched, but it had some of the springs curled around the rear axle. Literally had to have a friend come up on the interstate in the middle of the night and use his truck to snatch the box spring out from under the car with a chain just so that I could get the vehicle home. Tore up my under carriage and engine compartment too. I was so upset I couldn't see straight for a week.
Find a good place to get her fixed or go for the financing deals they have out there right now. You probably can't lose either way.

Sorry about that man. I've had several close encounters with road debris...I figure it's just a matter of time. Well, actually I did have one encounter. Late one night a Slurpy cup brought me to a halt....caught on the dam in front. I had to stop, back up, and go around it. A Slurpy cup. Hope for the best for your baby.

It is very hard to see things up ahead, due to low seating position. But at night, the headlights do not help any, also because of how close to the ground they are.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, time and money can heal all auto problems, at least you are safe!!

two years ago, while I was driving at night using my acura RSX type-s, a racoon was in the middle of the road. I felt sorry for the racoon when I accidentally ran over him....which also wrecked my front spoiler That cost me $600

things really happened unexpectedly, unfortunately

Lol! That reminds me of an incident many years ago when I went to detroit and got a rental car. I had asked for a sub-compact (I like small cars!), and I go to the lot and there's a Lincoln Town Car with 3 miles on it!!! OF course, I had waived the CDW, so I am white knuckling it all the way to Mom's. Going down the crowded, busy road, a pickup ahead of me loses a Lawn Mower! I was so freaked out...no where to go... but by some strange luck of fate, it missed me by a fraction of an inch and ended up in the median. That was definitely an "Oh $h1t" moment!

I was booking down our main drag the other day, with a motorcycle hot on my rear, when the car in front on me uncovered a skunk as it passed over it. I made a hard left in the other lane to avoid it but the motorcyclist behind me didn't have the same luck. He didn't go down but I'll bet his bike is sweet smelling now . That's why I stay back from the car in front just far enough were I have an avenue to escape in case anything else unexpectedly pops up in front of me.
