New member - Recently purchased a 2008 Sky Redline
Hello everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself since I have been lurking on here since looking into purchasing a Sky.
I finally settled on a 2008 Redline in Techno Gray (Chick Magnet Edition!!)
I bought it Certified Pre-owned w/39k miles on it, although I'm going back and forth with the dealership since they are having "issues" having it show up in the GM network as Certified.
Here's the dealer photos of the car - I have only had the car long enough to take one picture of it as it was pouring coolant from the waterpump the very next morning.... see below.
Oh yeah... It seems like I found all the common issues with this car all at once after driving her home from the dealer.
1. Waterpump seal - Dealer replacing waterpump & thermostat
2. Parking brake failure - Dealer is replacing everything from parking brake cable to and including one of the rear calipers.
3. Top latch handle came loose on the drive home??
4. Top alignment on drivers side.. noticed it is starting to fray the top.
So long story short. I bought it last friday... drove it home from Charlotte when I realized it was leaking and brought it on Saturday - due to having to order non stocked parking brake parts from michigan I don't get her back till friday or monday.
Anyways, just wanted to post up... thanks in advance for putting up with me.
Another 08 water pump after 30k...Welcome to the forum! Tons of information here.
Thanks!
I should have the car back today.. I can't wait.
Sadly, I need to file a formal complaint against the dealer I bought the car from.. but at least my car should be fixed up nice - GM is making it right.
<---Greenville SC as well. Sorry to hear about all the challenges. When you get her right hit me up if you wanna cruise or grab a beer. FWIW, I bought mine in Feb with 65K on it and I just rolled 74K with no issues to report. Get her sorted and she should treat you right.

You've only put 9,000 miles on it since Feb?????
I've had mine less than 2 months. It had 3,700 on it when I bought it. It now has 9,100. I drive it for pleasure only.
Of course, I'm retired and can drive it anytime I want. It is a lot of fun to drive.

I drive it to work and back about 25 miles round trip each day, plus whatever I drive outside of that. It's my only car.
In retrospect, developing problems on a "Certified Pre-owned" soon after purchase is actually a good thing in the long run. It corrects the problems (vehicle as well as administrative) when there is little dispute on fault, and sets precedence for any other things that might pop up in near future.
Imagine if all these things popped up a year after purchase.

Welcome!
This is crazy we are actually starting to have some locals with Kappas! If you have any questions about the car, let us know, not sure where you are in Greenville, but we are down off of exit 40 on I-85, feel free to stop by sometime.

Nice to know about the local DDM works, I know exactly what shop that is at.. who'd a thought??
My zip code is simpsonville but is on the outskirts of Piedmont and Greenville/Mauldin - I live off the 185 Loop (which reminds me I need to get another palmetto pass -- hate the toll, but love the road)
I can probably be at the DDM Works from my house in about 10 minutes or so lol... Just what I need some temptation to mod my car already.

I couldn't agree more -- It was a little frustrating not having my car for a week after buying it and getting it home from charlotte, but the real issues I have were the original place jerking me around and ultimately I think they sold me a car that wasn't certified and made a mistake. That and there was about 1700 miles undocumented at the dealer since it came into their inventory.. the mileage was hand written in too many places to have been a mistake. Anyway - I got a good deal on it and it's Certified and all the problems will be fixed!!
I don't think I'll get tired of this car for alonnnng time.

Got mine in Jan..8,000 on it...Now have 32,000. I love driven this car
