I will let you know more when I actually get to drive the car again - it started raining right before I got home and is still raining. And I do not like getting my Sapphie wet.
Even if the sun was shining I would not be going anywhere for a while - there is a NASCAR race on right now.

It has winding.

Skip;

The antenna has winding but it's a lot tighter winding than the original. What I heard was kind of a wimping sound as it bounced back and forth in the wind.

Glad you finally received you antenna. I love the look of the new one and I notice no change of reception.

I discovered it was here when I checked my email at 9:30pm tonight and had an e-notice from FedEx saying that it had been delivered at 3pm this afternoon.
So I walked out the front door and looked over, there it was leaning against the corner wall on the porch - no way to see it without being outside
Sure would have been nice if the danged FedEx driver had bothered to ring the doorbell instead of just dropping the box & leaving.
What makes me maddest is that I left home at 5pm to meet my daughter for dinner -and of course, I left through the garage having no idea that there was a package leaning against the corner of the porch.
If it had not been for that e-notice I would not have found it till I went out to get my morning paper - that is if someone would not have walked off with it by then.
The local FedEx is getting a call Monday with a complaint besides the email that I am going to send to thier corporate.

Oh well - it took me longer to get the box opened to get the antenna out than it took to change it out on the car. It looks GREAT! I am so happy to have no more bumper car look!

I took the Sky down into the mountains and coal fields today to Montcoal, WV. I usually start getting static from the Charleston radio stations about 20 miles from Montcoal and lose them entirely by the time I get there. With the Opel antenna, it was crystal clear all the way down and back. Reception was definitely BETTER!

No unwanted noises, great reception, & looks so much better than that stock towering whip. I am SO happy!!

1. Compare the sizes of the Opel GT to the stock
2. With the Opel GT antenna
3. The stock bumper car look.

I was at the dealership for service today and picked up a 2008 Sky brochure. I noticed that in EVERY picture, they had masked out the antenna!

There was one picture that you can still see the "nub" in, all the others have the entire thing photoshopped out.

Even GM is embarrassed by the "bumper car" look.

Just put the Antenna on today. There is a huge difference in the lengths. Partsdirect must be wondering what the heck is going on with all of these orders.

Looks much better and it mates up better to the antenna base on the car with a tappered look.

Astro.

Finally Ordered

Well, I finally ordered my Opel antenna. Find it really interesting that the GMPartsDirect site is owned by a Chevy dealer in North Carolina. They must really wonder what the heck is going on like someone said before, all these orders for the Opel GT part for US addresses..

Hey guys.... I am just coming on here to ask a question about this antenna. Do you guys know what size threading bolt you have on your cars? Is the Opel Antenna the "Male" of the "Female" connector.

I drive a Cobalt and have been looking for a good replacement antenna. We have a 7mm threaded bolt on our cars and require an antenna to screw onto the car. If you guys could help me out since most of you seem to have this antenna I would appreciate it and so would a bunch of us guys over on the Cobalt Forums.

Thanks.

I do not know the size, but the ant portion is "female" and screws onto the "male" threads on the car.. Is there away to measure for this?? as far mm size? can it done with a mm ruler?

Yea, alot of us have chopped our stockers or bought aftermarket but I live in RI and try to get a station from Boston... hard enough as it is but I would love to get back some reception if possible.

OK, I went ahead and measure my original OEM ant (I also replaced mine w/ the Opel one). Looks to be a 5MM hole--hope that helps--

Took delivery of the Sky on Friday, ordered the antenna Sunday night, received today (Thursday). Installed is 30 seconds and took it for a spin. Did not notice any difference in reception. Plus, it looks so much better than the original one.
