A new company in Cincinnati has started a company where you supply the Sky car, 2007 or 2008, they gut all the driveline stuff and replace it with a total battery system and electric plug in....their website is AMP Motorworks - (Advanved Mechanical Products) -The 100 percent electric car , I have heard the price is about $25000 for the total transformation and if you want them to, they will buy a new Sky for you and retro it ...about $50K.....this is for all the tree-huggers out there...just my $.02
Need one heck of an extension cord....or I guess you tow behind a heavy trailer with a gas generator on it in case you need it....LOL, I have no interest in trying to do the math and see how many miles you would have to drive to recoop the initial expense for conversion...
Look like Sh!t without tail pipes. And 150 miles a charge SUCKS! Especially since there are no places to plug in so you can not safely drive more than let's say 65 miles away before you need to head home!
It would be fine for those that commute within 75 miles. Now if it had small generators built-in (like modern electra bikes do) so it could recharge its batteries .. that would certainly enhence its appeal.

They didn't mention what the estimated battery life is or what it costs to replace the battery. Not to mention how toxic the lithium battery that size can be if not recycled.

Hmmm, let's see, I've got $25k laying around. Should I AMP it or should I Mallett it? Hypothetically speaking of course... These are about on the opposite side of the spectrum that you can get.
150 miles per charge . . .
&
ssssss vs. VROOM, VROOM ...
Nope - don't think so.
And have I mentioned that I have a Magnaflow exhaust on order

150 mile range...
to be fair... while I havent researched it... that sounds comparable to every other published article Ive read about 100% electric cars.
I wonder..
1) whats the bell-curve where the max battery charge drops off? Do you go 30k miles and still get full charges before battery starts degrading, or.. is it much sooner where after 18mos your charges are only getting 100 miles..etc
2) Have they actually done this? Why no detailed pictures or video? This is the video age of the internet... show me a YouTube video of 4 mins that has the founder showing the car, describing the technology (pointing at parts of the electric motor and batteries), then get into the car and drive around... making it clear there is no exhaust... then show us the car running from a stop, side by side with a normal Redline so we can see the performance is similar to the gas engine!!
4 min video...
Sellability?
150 sounds rough... and cuts out the long cruises.. but there are a lot people who really only drive 50 miles a day.. to work and around town.
I noticed in the FAQ.. they are only selling 300 cars, to people within 200 miles of cinncinnati. I get their desire to have the cars close for support/troubleshooting... but will the Cinncinnati marketplace support 300 electric skys? there may not be taht many regular skys driving aroudn!!!
