Nice new ride
Yeah I am keeping the Sky for now. The new ride is a little more family friendly with 2 seats in the back.

Steve

Rotary engines can put out some serious HP, but they are heavy compared to piston engines. That RX8 engine is a similar weight to a V6.

I personally love Rotary engines. Been a fan back all the way to 1985 when my brother got his
RX7 - GSL SE

I am also a huge fan of the RX-8.
More Sports Car than Sedan, but enough room to be useable as a 4 person car.
Love the Suicide Doors.

Nice Pickup Are-Ex-Eight

Beats me
Storage space has never been something I am concerned about with Cars.
The Rx-8 has a back seat
That means it has at least 3 times the storage space of a sky.

It outperforms any piston engine vehicle I have driven. The sound it makes at 9k rpms (the redline) is amazing.

Yeah I love the RX-8. The engine is in the neighborhood of 300 lbs, compared to a typical V6 of 400 so it's not heavy really.

The HP output isn't amazing due to the low torque but is made up by the fact that the RPM's redline at 9000.

HP = Torque X RPM/5200 (I think?)

The Wankel makes HP via RPM, and delivers torque to wheels (in the literal sense) via gearing. RX-8 can perform very well. Just gotta keep the RPMs high. Also, it has one of the best sorted chassis around; arguable the best at the price.

A bit of trivia: The kappa's LNF is the highest specific output engine GM has ever put in a production vehicle: 130HP/Liter. The RX-8 delivers 178 HP/Liter. Hence, from the standpoint of delivering power from displacement, the RX-8 not only exceeds the LNF but is way up on the chart (could be number 1). Of course, that's one of the things about a Wankel, and I think it actually results in adjustments for rotary engines in some competition events; smaller displacement rotaries are classed with higher displacement pistons.
