They do make kits-- a quick one i found is here:

Auto Indulgence

apparently they built the one for the new show (Guts of KITT's new red light bar revealed - Autoblog)

This would be awesome except totally illegal to have in California if it is on or lit at night. Police are only allowed to have Red and Blue lights in the front of the car.

But .. I hate but's ... in most States it would be illegal usage while driving! However, at shows or while parked ... you could draw more attention and conversation with it on.

Knight Rider or Cylon Centurion

On a silver car that made me think of the Cylon Centurion from Battlestar Galactica. Would have to be a black car for me to think of Knight Rider.

Interestingly, many states only regulate CERTAIN light colors on vehicles and have either no or minimal rules on other colors. Usually the restricted colors are emergency colors such as red, blue and yellow.

Maybe Aubrey could actually do pink.....

In response to "Skybaby"'s "reality may be closer" line, I figure I would speak up.

What was initially a "can this be done" idea has turned into a reality.

Skybaby will be getting the first one (in pink), but I definately can make this a reality for others that may be interested.

making lights blink back and forth (a walking dot) is a pretty easy thing, however making them blink in sync and fade back and forth was the challange.

The current design has 24 LEDs (with 12 on each side) with a fade LED pattern running from inside-out then outside-in on a 2 second cycle. by fade, I mean that there is a lingering/dimming light affect following the bright lead LEDs which makes it seem like there is a trail after the first LED.

The circuit board has been designed and ready to be mass-produced, the only issue is how to mount the LEDs.

For mine (in blue) and "skybaby's" (in pink) I am going to do some custom mounting in the fake grill just below the silver saturn badge with the LEDs embedded in a water clear epoxy with mother of pearl additive, then run this to a rocker switch in the cabin.

This was designed with car shows in mind, and the current draw is less than .02 amps (both dimmer lights are .52 amps) so you should be able to leave this on for a full car show without worry of the battery draining.

It should be a pretty cool project. I'll post pictures when done (should be about 2 weeks)

I was just joking around when I did this!!

I think I might entertain the idea of a red set if they are next to invisible when the LEDs are off.

What's your expected price?

Clicky here for something that will get the color you want... and then some... :-)

I have the UFO underbody kit and some random 1 foot tubes... nowhere to mount the underbody kit on the Sky.
