Claire, just toss that beautiful red hair to the side and keep that pretty smile on your face. They will never get to know that permagrin feelin'. See you at Cruisin the Coast on Saturnday. Mike

I love my base and wouldn't give it up for anything else on the road. It is so fun to drive.

They are both Skys Skip.. does the Redline not say Sky on it?

I like NA and Redline to distinguish the two....

I think that one is a Sky, the other a Sky Redline. Saturn has Redline versions of much of its fleet.

Here's my response...

"I don't like turbos, I think they are ricy, BOV's sound like crap...if I wanted a fast car I would have gotten a fast car. I could have gotten a lot faster car for $27k. But I wanted a car that looked good, wouldn't get me in trouble, and was fun to drive. You don't need no stinken turbo to have fun...you need a supercharger!!"

but i don't feel there is a Base Sky.. it has alot of things that are normally options.. so you really can't call it a base model...

I guess I have a Premimum Sky then....

I tried that a while ago Tim. I called it the classic Sky but was told it is not a classic. I just use Sky and Sky R/L. I do not like the word base because my Sky is not a base but a Sky. I did not have the fortune to get a R/L and I probably could not afford it now. So if you talk about the Sky it is 2.4 liters versus the R/L which is 2.0 L....Skip....

I agree that the Sky is not a classic...

It dosen't matter what you call them they are both called Sky. but one is a Redline model... Just like in the 60's you had a Chevelle, A Chevelle Malibu, and A Chevelle SS.. All different models of the same car....

Just tell those people the Redline wasn't out when you got yours. That's what I do. I'm not lying to them, I got mine in June 2006. I haven't ever had anyone give me crap for getting the non-turbo. The only time anyone gave me crap about a car was when I was looking at the restyled mustangs (back in 2005, the Sky didn't exist yet). Everyone told me I had to get the GT, they wouldn't allow me to get the v6.

Just tell 'em that there's no replacement displacement & you just couldn't get yourself to drive around with a little 2.0 under the hood when you could get one with 20% more displacement for less $$

BTW... I have a Solstice GXP... just help'n a brother from a different mother out

Not sure how to respond to the turbo issue, but tell them that the automatics are faster than the manuals.

Just keep letting 'em hang when they ask if it is a turbo - smile and say it is a 2.4 liter with 173 hp (which is more than many of the older small blocks V8's ran) and keep talking up all the Sky points.

Had a friend walk up to a guy at Waddles. The guy was sitting in a Plymouth Satelite with a 426 Hemi. My friend knowing that the same car comes with the 440 CI wedge says to the Hemi driver "I see you got the small one. Too bad" and walks away.

You could always say you went for CI and got the big motor.

I would say yes it's a turbo If theyr'e to dumb to find out what they are looking at they won't know the difference anyway.
Last Summer I had a guy in an 06 Vette convertible follow me for about three miles.I thought oh great! he's got something to prove turns out he just wanted to catch up to me at a light and tell me how much he liked the car. I was and still am a very proud owner
It's fun to watch other vehicles on the the road those that have vehicles that are as fast or faster than this car don't really want to find out if a $26,000 roadster can toast theyr'e $40,000-60,000 pride and joy and people who have been reading too much Car and Driver decide that theyr'e little Econo Box is up to the test

I love this little car!
