Now that I've put my girl away for the winter

I live in Upstate NY. Last week, right before getting dumped on with snow, I put my Redline in the garage for the winter. This was very difficult for me. I've wanted a really nice car for a very long time and a Sky for a couple of years. Now that I bought one, in October, I've had to put her in the garage for at least 5 months!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before I bought this car I was contemplating buying a place in FL to spend time living during the colder months. I was just in FL for 2 weeks with my car and enjoying the weather. When I was there I learned that FL has done away with car inspections. This peaked my interest and gave me a little more incentive to buy a place in FL. I think the last straw was shutting the garage door on my baby and not being able to drive her for 5 months. Toward the end of this year I will be actively looking to buy a condo or possible a house in the St Petersburg area. I will also be transfering my car's registration to FL to avoid NYS inspection headaches. This will free me up to play with building my car till my heart's content.

Is it bad that I'm driven to buy a home in another state because of a car?

When I bought my car, it was November 30th, 2009. Didn't have it long before I had to put it up for the winter. Yes, it even snows in NJ. So I know how you feel. I am in FL for the winter but haven't figured out how to bring down my Sky and keep it here along with my Sonic. I need the Sonic to transport my mom to different places while I am here. She is 91 and may have a little difficulty getting in and out of the Sky. I am sure that Mike has some ideas, but there is the issue of added expense.

Luckily in South Carolina, it's just a few days or a week at a time I have to park mine in the garage. I took it out on Sunday to do some last minute errands and drove up the mountain:

Now it's tucked away again since then, with all these storm cells coming through, I'm so thankful for having a garage and another driver.

nope, I drive for a living, so driving to FL is nothing for me. The car on the other hand, I did hate to put all those miles on her, but since I had only been able to drive her for like 4-5 days since buying her, due to work, I decided it would be worth the 2500-3000 miles this once. I didn't even think of a train option. What's it cost?

Oh and here's another crazy thing. I bought my car at auction in Massachusetts from a dealer. The car has clearly never seen salt. She's a 2009 RL and had 73,000 miles on her when I got her. So taking out the salt road winters she has only been driven (guessing high here) somewhere around 25-30 months. That's a crazy average of 2500+ miles per month!! The person who owned her really loved to drive her!! :-)

5 months drags on for ever

We put ours up with the first snow and get it back out after the spring rains wash all the salt off the roads.

I like having a state inspection. My vehicles never have a problem passing because they're well maintained, and it helps keep the unsafe junk off the road.
