Ouch! and no one to blame but myself!

Pulled into a parking spot with my head in the clouds and drove the front valance right up and over the curb. Pulled it down about an eight of an inch, gouged the heck out of it, and rubbed the paint off the bottom.

Over all - it's not too bad. You rally can't notice it unless you know what to look at. (And I see it every time I look at the front of it)

Man - only about two weeks old and I hurt her...

I am going to drive it thru the end of the season, then send it in to be fixed. Any thoughts on what a new front valance will cost?

I will post pics soon.

My wife did that a little worse to my Solstice a couple of weeks ago and the repair bill was $909 to replace and paint the front bumper cover along with the reflector\light on the left of the bumper cover.

She did not just scrape it, she actually tore the plastic by the screws that attach it under the headlight.

Scrapes underneath had been painted over about a year ago so you might get by with a repair...that was around $400. Most of it was labor to smooth out the plastic and do the painting.

Very common. My first chin rub was that much worse (psychologically) because I was thinking to myself at the time "Don't get too close...don't get too close", and I did anyway.

Haven't erred since, and that was 8 months ago.

I'd be surprised if all of us didn't do this at least once. I know I did.

I do not want to jinx myself...so no comment on all of us having already scraped!

But we use the tree falling in the woods theory, if you cannot see it from a normal perspective, who cares......at least you do not have to worry about it happening for the first time, it is done!

I did it but eventually you will be able to feel the distance and chances of it happening will be nil unless of course something distracts you. Then the appropriate slang words will apply, the dread to look will overcome you, emotional feelings will overtake you, your head will fall onto the steering wheel, a tear will squeeze out of your left eye, the last emotional level well be acceptance with a firm commitment to yourself that s-it ain't going to happen again.

I find that I drive SO much more carefully when I'm going places I've never been. I drove to a friend's appt. and I chunked the nose on the 45* upward slope into the driveway.

That made me a pretty sad panda...

No boo boo yet on my front bumper. I had it repainted because of the dealership scratched it real bad. No cost to me.
It will drive you crazy every time you look at your SKY. You'll see it everytime. It hurts. T.

Since I dont have a basement, the water heater and furnace is in the garage, so they put one of those concrete blacks like the have in parking lots, every time i pull in the garage it is a chore and of course when i parked in wendy there was a bunch of mud, just can't catch a break sometimes...SteveSky67

"Beached" my Sol several times. Scratched the paint on the bottom of the fascia. Dealer friend said a body shop would probably charge about $200 to repair, repaint. Too much money - figure I'll do it again.... Touch up paint, $10, dealer touched up, $0. Looks alot better.

When you think you have a coupla feet to go to park at a curbstop, STOP.

Ron

I scraped mine as well. I figured it was inevitable so I am not too worried about it. Mine was just barely a touch. The hood makes it a little hard to judge the distance when you first get it.

Well, the first week I had my civic I really scraped the front fender up bad. (I momentarily forgot that I wasn't in a pickup...)

Since then I've taken the time to note the point were the curb is out the left window and how that relates to the distance to the curb. (hopefully that makes some sense...) Still, every once and a while I'll lightly kiss the curb. But, now that I've got a better idea were the nose of the car is it's so much easier to sneak up on the curb, rather than just roll up and over it. Plus, the Honda lip kit hides this sort of thing alot better than the stock fender does.\

The first thing I'll do with the sky once i get is to park it in the driveway, then about a foot in front of the nose I'll set up a line of cinder blocks, about 4-6 inches heigher than the driveway. Then I'll get in the car and find some landmark that will give me some indication of how close I am to the curb.

Of course, this depends on me getting it home without scraping the fender.

Honestly with a car as short in length as the Sky/Sol you shouldn't worry about getting the close to the curb anyways. A foot away from the curb and you're still completely in the parking spot. If you even begin to feel uncomfortable, stop, your close enough.
