Sky feedback

Hey Everyone,
It's been along time since I have been on the site. I was one of the first people to post pics of the sky/soltice when it was at the autoshow before it came out. The dealership that I was on an order list closed down so they never called me when it was time to order it. Things happen for a reason I went back to school and quit my job so I was unable to buy a new car anyway. School is almost done and I will be getting a new job soon and have been thinking about what car I want to get. Although it seems like people don't like negative feedback I am sure glad people are expressing their opinions. I see people are complaining about the power other than that are there any other problems with the sky? I don't care how fast the car goes I am not into speed. I was reading some of the solstice issues and thinking if the sky has the same... Something about the paint job not being good??? I sure do wish they would give an option of heated seats and power top I would be willing to pay the extra for it. I think there was somethingelse about a clunking noise?????
I was thinking of either getting the sky or audi tt(coupe) but people say the that audi's have electrical problems... Hum I don't know ....

Isn't this forum for opinions????

I have been reading you guys bash the honda person and can't understand why? All the person did was give their opinion about the sky isn't that what this forum is for?????? Yes, so they mentioned the other car they bought Honda's are awesome cars that run forever they should be proud of the car. I am just glad people are giving their opinions good or bad I want it all before I decide to buy a car.
Also I sure hope the sky is not like the solstice because I went to carmax.com and there sure are a lot of solstice for sale. Why would there be so many the first couple of years the car is out? Is the sky better than the solstice????? Opinions are great please give yours.....

p.s. I don't care if words are not spelled correctly either......

So you think Hondas never break?

I am a auto technician with over 30 yrs. experiance, 21 years as a certified Master Tech. I for one am not impressed by hondas reliability. From my experiance they break as much as many car if not more often. On the other hand Saturns seem to be much more reliable cars than must out there.

I took delivery of my 07 Sky R/L in February 07 and have 8400 miles on it with no problems at all. Have taken it down the BRP and had a blast on those curvy mountain roads.

As for you S2000 owners, BEWARE of the SKY, it may have you for lunch!!!!!

Hondas

Hum I like all kinds of cars and yes Honda so happens to be one. I think every brand has bad and good cars I really don't care about the name of a car. It just seems like a lot of people on this website think that you can only like saturns. I can have a sky and think other cars are cool too. I know tons of people who own Honda's and have really had no troubles with them and have had them for years. I knew a girl who had a saturn and she said she always had to carry oil with her because the car would always need oil. I don't know I don't really care a car is a car. I also know people who own volkswagons and have had electrical problems so see all cars have their good and bad. My sister owns a ford focus it's been in the shop more than she has actually driven it. Oh yeah also I had a friend who owned a nissan that had tons of problems too. I like saturn and would probably get a sky but I am not going to say that saturn is the only car and is the best ever. If someone told me they had another car I thought was cool I would be excited too.

i think that you hit the nail on the head here. this forum is a very useful source of information, but it has many owners who attack and belittle opinions different from their's own. it's actually a big reason i stopped coming here much.

regardless, the sky certainly have some great qualities, and some not so great ones. i do want to add that there are sky owners who are perfectly happy to discuss the faults as well as qualities of the car.

Spelling......schmelling............

WHO CARES ABOUT SPELLING????

WHO CARES ABOUT GRAMMAR?????

I's be doin' boat in occassion.

What's important, IMHO, is that the S2000 person is very happy with their car, and just wants to let everyone know...............

that they OVERPAID for a LESS POWERFUL, LESS DYNAMIC-LOOKING car.

I, personally, don't have a problem with that.

And MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone.

As the Sales rep put the dealer test plate on the car we had a small crowd gathering around the car. We got in and off on our test ride. Other than looking like a million this car is junk!!!! My 1985 Hyundai Pony had more power or at least iI remember it having more. We drove out on to the local freeway and were ASTONISHED at the lack of torque. I shifted from 3rd to 4th my elbow hit the drink holders in the center console, not too impressed! We stopped at a friends to show off the new ride and wife asked how the top went up so i said its your car you better learn and nows as good as a time as any. well what a gong show she made 3 trips around the car to get all the parts into place I'm sure glad it wasn't raining at the time. Hard to operate. Actually awkward is a better word. Heading back to the dealer the wife was looking for a radio station but the reflection on the stereo was so bad that you had to guess what station you were on. And the wind whistling through the gaps in the top around the windows was very distracting. Now for that TRUCK transmission GM should be shot for put that in this car it has the same throw as my old 1976 Ford f250. Pulling back into the dealer the same crowd was waiting with baited breath for our happy smiling faces. I could not get my deposit back fast enough!!! That body needs a sports car under it and a Cavalier is not my Idea of a sports car.
So this guys got arms like a Gorilla and doesn't have the slightest idea of how to drive a sports car! This is an Aisin transmission not something that GM cooked up it has been used for many years mostly in toyotas, the Porsche has a six speed version in it. Most sports cars take a little REV to get off the line because the gear ratio is long and your not going to pull a 3000# trailer with it By this clowns criteria he wouldn't be to thrilled with a Lamborgini or Ferrari either. As far as handling is concerned My Sky handles like it's glued to the road and I haven't seen any S2000 or BMW owners come up beside me on the road wanting to see if they got their moneys worth for their 40 or 50 thousand dollars spent. I did have one in a Volvo though and he spent too much.
I've owned my Sky for eight months now and it is from front to back a sports car and deserves the title and I have had absolutely no problems with it. I have been having great fun with it and look forward to owning it for many years to come.

If you don't know how or don't have the good sense to drive it properly horsepower will only bring you faster to your grave!

A day late...but who cares

As for the S2000, I've never driven one. I actually got a better compliment...from a Honda MECHANIC! It turns out that my serivce advisor at Saturn...well, his son happens to work at Honda as a tech. A few weeks go by and I meet his son, we have a few beers, and we B/S about working for dealerships. He asks to drive my car. He want's to compare it to his knowledge of the S2000. Mind you, I'm 30....he's 25...so we are both very much into sports cars and tuning. He drives my car for 10 minutes and has nothing but praise for it. He compliments the "soundness of the build quality" and the lack of noise transference that you get in an S2000. He's surprised to learn it's only a 4 cylinder...stating (in his opinion) that "the Sky has better acceleration, although this may be skewed by the fact that the Sky doesn't shake you to pieces like an S2000 does on a hard accel." He also complimented the brakes, saying that they are both more quiet and smoother on a stop from 60+ mph. The price tag makes sense to him, knowing now that it has a 4 banger under the hood.

Like a typical scene....two dudes....drinking beer and staring at a nice car...he says "thats a pretty nice f-in ride".

To me, the debate is over. Especially when he tells me that "S2000's are peices of sh@t. I hate working on those things." I'm a Saturn tech, I love working on Sky's, and I think they are incredibly solid and wonderful to drive. Thats what I tell everyone. The proof is in the Techs who work on your car and how much they believe in the product.

I got my Sky last week and it's a Redline with a Weekender package. It has the stripe down the center. is carbon black with the titanium leather. 5 speed of course. I do love it and power man it will go and corner nicely.

OK, hello everybody, just joined up to this forum. Great to be here. Just got my 2007 black on black sky and I must say this is one little sexy car. I've had a 96 Miata, from there went to a 91 Corvette, then jumped to a 99 BMW Z3, now on to a 2007 Sky. Must say I was impressed that this being A GM car has such appeal to me. My only complaint so far is the lack of planing in some of the interior design. Why are the power window buttons in the back of my elbow? Seems a waste with that center console area just taking up space. That annoying reflection of the saturn logo in the mirror when the top is down, some engineer didn't see that? Whats up with the orange bezel on the radio. I've had some interesting conversations with my nephew, who works for GM, he says they have issues but are working on them. While this car is no way in the same league as a BMW or Corvette, it does represent a major step with GM cars. All in all I still like the look of the car and in todays oil starved world, the practically of a 4 cyl. car is good.
