P0301 code troubleshooting
Friend of mine has a Sol GXP that is throwing a P0301 code (misfire cylinder 1), but is running perfectly normal, no loss of power, no going into limp mode, no running rough, nada. He recently installed a gutted cat and the car is throwing a code for that as well (no big surprise there). Never threw the misfire code before the cat and always throws the cat code first. My question is, could the 02 sensor be reading the fuel/air ratio incorrectly thereby making the car think it is misfiring or is there something more serious going on. Also, if the car is tuned to block out the cat code is that all that needs to be done or does he need to still invest in an 02 extender. I searched the forum before I posted but all of the P0301 threads I saw also came along with performance issues. Thanks in advance.
