Picked up the SKY one year ago today 5/23

One year ago today we picked up our 2.4L SKY - 'The Little Car'. The getting on the list to order, the placing of the order, the waiting for build and delivery and finally the drive have been worth it beyond words. We have put just a tad over 14,600 miles under the tires with silly grins the whole time. As it turns out, my wife caught the SG syndrome on our first road trip a couple of weeks after delivery.

We have taken 'The Little Car' all over Northern California; to Mammoth and back, through the Gold Country several times, down the coast to Monterey, up the coast the Jenner, throught the wine country and up to Tahoe. I've even run down to LA for a photo job. All the while finding the SKY very comfortable - I'm 6'2" and near 245. Sure the trunk is small but we can pack for 4-5 days very easily.

I have had one issue and that's with the splash guards. Don't get me wrong, they work well and look great. The issue is with the fronts. They hang pretty low and I've banged 'em pretty good on a few occasions to the point that I've taken them off for fear of damaging the quarter panel.

The only mechanical issue I've had is a noisy air conditioning compressor. Dealer replaced a valve - problem solved.

The car is still tight with no water or other leaks. The car is still as fun to drive as the first day we brought it home. I still obsess over it like I paid a million dollars for it (nightly dusting, quick detail after nearly every weekly wash, paint cleaned/sealed using Gary's terrific products, top cleaned/protected monthly, engine bay wiped down with every wash - geeze get a life!).

We still get hoots, thumbs up, questions, head snaps and cell phone camera photo shoots( on the freeway doing seventy(ish) just last week-end).

A for the buying experience, it was as expected from Saturn. I've dealt with the same dealer for our other three Saturns and this time was the same as those. No hassels, no add-ons, no crap. The Sales Manager, Duane and our sales guy, John are great guys. They answered all my questions, found the answers if they needed to and were genuinely happy to learn what I knew.

So, one year later I still have terminal SGS and I'm not looking for a cure. We love our SKY and we're looking forward to many more years of fun to come.

To those still waiting - it is worth it.

That sounded like very selective wording. Delivered to dealer, and home dates, lol. Uh, IIRC Sunni wasn't exactly delivered to owner but rather, er, liberated?

Do you belong to, or are you interested in starting a Sky Club here in No. CA? Specifically the SF Bay Area?

I'd be interested in joining a club here in the Bay Area if one gets going. I am also a memeber of the WCKCC.
