Polished Pipes and Red Hoses

I finally got the Fujita intake and polished intercooler pipes re-installed on SPIRIT. (They were removed by the dealer and replaced with the factory parts when I had my entire engine replaced.) I got them back from Saturn a couple of weeks ago (after they took their time studying them and returning them) and had the guys from KappaSphere give me a hand re-installing them.

One thing that I did differently this time is that I ordered some red hoses from boostcontroller.com to replace the boring black ones. I used straight hoses on the bottom, and a hump hose up top. I like the little bit of color that the red tubing adds to the engine compartment. It looks great without being overdone. Total cost for all the hoses was less than forty bucks.

I guess this qualifies as "a mod of a mod!" I'm getting deep into it now!

In terms of quality, these hoses seem superior to the ones that come with the Fujita Intake and Intercooler Pipes. They are thicker and four-ply versus the three-ply ones supplied. The clamps barely fit over them. They do fit - but more snugly (which is a good thing, too.)

Photos are show below. Note the prominent red hump hose up top on the intercooler hot-side pipe. I would think that a yellow hose on a yellow car, for example - or similar color accents on other color cars, would look equally dramatic...

The lower hoses are harder to see, but they give a nice pop when looking through the front with the hood open (like at a car show display.) They also play nicely with the red cone filter!

I was wondering if/when you were going to put the bling back into your engine area. Looks good I see you used T bolt clamps...me too. I used the hump hose at the hot side and at both intercooler ends...but mine are black..yours look great in red

I went with the dejon powercoated red to match my GXP. I noticed a distince improvement in mid range power with just changing out the intercooler pipes and replacing the intake rubber with tubing.

The CAI is next but Im pretty happy with the improvement I already received. Im wondering if you noticed any difference when you went back to the factory pipes.

For me the biggest gain is in looks. Now the engine compartment says "WOW!" instead of "zzzzz."

Next up was the sound. I love the "Chuff!" when I ease up on the gas under boost.

In terms of power gain? I don't know if I feel that much, really. Not enough to declare a definitive night-and-day difference.
