Poor windshield fit and more?
Picked up my Sky a few weeks ago. Didn't notice 'til the next day that the windshield doesn't fit in the windshield frame (header panels) very well. I can't tell if the frame is out of spec. or if it is a bad windshield install at the factory. It looks like the drivers side top corner sticks up above the frame while the passengers side top corner is slightly recessed below the frame. Does anybody else have this problem? I looked at many cars trying to see what a normal fit is for a windshield and every other car I look at has the windshield fit perfect. Even a Yugo had the spacing between the windshield and its frame uniform all the way around the windshield. Seems like GM could improve their build quality.
Also, to make matters worse, I put splash guards on yesterday and noticed a nice gouge down to metal at the very bottom of the rocker panel under the drivers side door. I haven't driven the car outside of the trip home from the dealership and I definitely didn't hit bottom. I looked closer only to find a few gouges under there. Based upon what I can see, it looks like when it was being transported either on the train or truck, that someone bottomed out on the rocker panel pulling on or off the loading ramps. Anyways, I'm just taking some touch up paint and hoping that it won't rust. Anybody have this problem. I wonder if I can use the 30 day satisfaction guarantee and have them order a new one for me. I'd hate to have other problems though since the car runs and drives fine. Anybody know how the 30 day Satisfaction Guarantee works for the Sky? |

Welcome to the forum!!! Wow, you've run into more delivery problems than I think I've ever read about. No, the windshield should fit just fine. I do believe the 30 day thing applies to the Sky, but it'll be for a car of equal or greater value. If you want another Sky that might be a pain, as one's would have to be available. I really don't know how that works wrt ordering another one. What's your dealer say about the problems?

They will probably fix it, no worries. Mine had a misaligned door panel/front panel. It only caught (barely) as the door was being opened. It only did it when it got warm because of the metal expanding. It must have been a cold day in Delaware when they checked the doors. They adjusted the door panel and the quarter panel and it is perfect now. Only other thing is the outside temp gauge, which they will replace on my first oil change.
