Question about closing the trunk

When the top is down and you close the trunk, do you have to press those 2 large tabs down as you are closing it?

Isn't this a 2 person job?

My trunk doesn't seem to close completely unless the tabs are up as the trunk goes down.

Am I missing something?

Welcome to the forum!! Closing the trunk should be a pretty simple one person task. Not completely sure about what you mean by the two tabs. If you're talking about the two silver flaps those should already have gone down when you put the top in the trunk. If they didn't you'll probably need some sort adjustment at the dealer. HTH.

Closing the trunk shouldn't require doing anything with those tabs. If it does, have the dealer check it out. You do need to slam it pretty hard though.

I've read the best method is to stand behind the car, put your hand between the two humps, and just push it down harder than you think you'll need to. At least that's how I usually do it.

Keep a hand towel or a wash cloth in your car to use when you close it because your hand will start to leave scratches on the paint. Learned the hard way.

Just a thought - if you get the full 3-M clear bra treatment they will put a small strip on the trunk between the humps for you to push against.

It doesn't keep the fingerprints from showing, but it protects the paint and is pretty easy to clean.

Had mine done through the dealership - relatively inexpensive.

If You Are Talking About The Two Tabs Next To The Humps, They Stay Down. But When You Close Your Trunk They Flip Up And Release The Air Pressure It Creates Within The Trunk. If They Do Not Close Back Down Then You Need Them To Be Looked At By Saturn Service. At Least This Is What My Car Seems To Do.

Thank You For Your Support
