Question about one of the DIC settings

I was resetting my oil life setting and notice another setting called "EXT LIGHTS"

you can select ON or OFF.

Mine was set to on so I turned it off to see exactly what that setting does but I can't find any difference. Does anyone know what this setting does?

I can't find any info in the manual either.

Perhaps it means "external" or "exterior" lights? Maybe in the trunk? or maybe it shuts off your running lights? Or the lights on your rear view mirror? I donno, good question.

hehehe, I kinda figured that part out ext = exterior

but I walked around the car, didn't notice anything. I tried using the keyfob but lights appear to be blinking with the lock/unlock as they did before.

I didn't check the trunk light though. I'll recheck everything after work.

I wouldn't really count the trunk light as an exterior light but who knows.

A guess, but something to test. See if that value is for external lights delay. Perhaps it's an on/off or time setting for the headlights remaining on after you shut down the car. Other cars have that feature, and IIRC the default behaviour is to delay turning off the headlights after leaving the car.

I found it!

cerebrus - you got it.

EXT LIGHTS (Exterior perimeter
lighting during Remote Keyless Entry
unlock)

When I unlock the doors in the morning, the headlights go on and stay on for 30 seconds or so. This is nice when its dark out as it allows me to make my way to the car through my minefield of a garage without tripping.

I suppose some people like it in that it lights up the area while they get from their front door to the car or something when parking in the driveway.

In anycase, the setting "EXT lights" enable/disables this feature. And now that I think back to my little test this morning, I must have missed it.
