Question about replacing the top.

I'm having my top replaced and got a little worried about something. Does anyone know if replacing the top requires the plastic rear bulkhead panel behind the seats to be removed? Reason I'm worried is that I have a custom subwoofer installation and in order to remove that panel, my sub would have to be removed first. The way it is installed, if the sub is removed, I'd have to take it back to the shop and have them reinstall it because of the way it is sealed.

I also have an amp in the trunk with wires running under the carpeting. I worried about that too and whether they'll have to pull the amp out and disconnect all the wires, which if they do, it's a given that they won't reconnect them the right way.

btw, they've had the car since Monday and STILL haven't gotten around to starting on the top replacement even though the part was in stock and waiting for me. They ordered it before I took the car in specifically to avoid a long wait like this. I won't have it back until at least next monday at the earliest.

Why don't you pick up the car and tell them to give you a call when they are ready? that's what I'd do.

Don't know about the other stuff. Hope it works out for ya.

when they remove the top they will take off the silver panel that runs between the trunk and back of the seats. I had my top replaced and the woofer enclosure and bulkhead were not touched. I watched them work on my car every day for the whole 2 months that it was in the shop. I wouldn't worrk about the sub

Had I known that they hadn't even started on the top yet, I would have picked it up yesterday. Unfortunately, I was told yesterday that they were already working on it and it would be ready this afternoon. Turns out they had some misinformation and the guy won't be starting on it till Monday. At this point it's too much of a hassle to pick it up, return the loaner car, drive it back on monday, get another loaner, car, then have to drive back to pick it up..etc..etc... It's about a 45 minute drive each way. I'll just let them keep it till it's done. Had they given me the right info yesterday, it would be a different story, but now at 4:30 on a friday, it's too late to start with all that hassle.

you mean the silver part that has the two little flaps? As long as they plastic bulkhead panel behind the seats is untouched, it'll be ok. They won't be able to remove it without tearing apart my sub install.

yeah it is the silver with the flaps I think it will be fine. Have they ever done a top at your dealership before?

I had them find a reputable convertible shop in my area and they outsourced it to them. It turned out better than factory

My dealer outsources it too. Well, at least according to what the guy told me. Then again, yesterday he also told me they were already workign on it and it would be done today.
