radio issue with dealer-chrome wheels locks

The red r/l finally arrived after ordering in August 06. When it came in I noticed the $590 radio was added with no notice to me. Sales guy said it was mandatory to get XM radio. I complained as had I known of this I would not have gotten the XM radio at all. Oh well the r/l is a much more powerful car than I expected so I am satisfied. I talked the sales guy into giving me chrome wheel locks but they don't have any. If I can them somewhere they will reimburse me for the locks. Does anyone have any ideas on where to get chrome locks?? Thanks Jack in Albuquerque

I don't know the size of the threads etc. I will try Auto Zone and see if they have Saturn sky specific locks. Thanks

Mandatory to get XM radio? I think not. A good Saturn dealership does not charge extra nor put on extra parts that are not part of the original contract....Skip...

My problem is that I'm trying to order a 2008 Redline, and the dealers here all want to add two thousand dollars worth of "dealer installed options" (stuff like glass etching and interior protectant).

I'm still trying to find a better dealer, but the whole "no haggle-no hassle" pricing doesn't seem to apply to Skys.

You just have a bad dealership, try another one that goes for MSRP...there are plenty out there...Skip...

I thought what he meant was he wanted XM but didn't realize that it requires the sound system to be upgraded to Monsoon. Seems like the dealer could have made it clearer but they didn't put on extra parts that weren't part of the order (at least this time). That's the way I read the first post.

You would think that after the first year that Saturn would have taught the Stealer Dealers the lesson not to do that by losing allocations. It's roadster weather and the Sky is limited availability so it continues to bring out the worst in some is seems. There are plenty of honest dealers. Those are the ones Saturn suposedly rewards with the larger allocations. I know mine is. Other dealers tried to pull that cra%. I let them know I would never buy a car from them, ever.

I learned this trick the other day when I was trying to get a rotor for my Expedition. They informed me there were two thread sizes available and they needed to know which one I had. As I didn't know, they had me do something that's pretty simple and made me go, "Duh!".

When you get to the store, remove one of the lug nuts and take it in. They have the tools to measure what you need.

Exactly, good suggestion!

The lug is 19mm, they can tell you which length works based on your standard lugs.

I do know for the 2008 SKY models - the Monsoon set up automatically gets you XM. . .

to clarify what went on- i did not try to "build my own sky" and if i did it does show that to get xm you must have monsoon. since xm is not a free standing "option" why show it separately? i would have just included it with the monsoon and charged $790 for both. i had no leverage at all in getting them to reduce the charge as there were 2 other folks who were willing to take it as is. i thought the dealer should have called me before hand but they said they only have a short window so the call never came. they did honor my request that they put no dealer stickers on the car. i also told them not to wash it or buff it at all as i have seen swirl marks on new cars when this was done at the dealer. they did not wash or wax or buff it so i was happy. overall not too bad an experience in spending $31654 plus tax.

i will take off one of the lug nuts and take into the store to get proper one now that i know it is 19mm. thanks

There are often options on cars that you can't buy unless you have selected certain other option packages as well. The Sky is not the first car where I have seen this type of limitation.

Look at any detail spec sheet for a car and you will probably find a note on an option somewhere that says "Option A only available with Package XYZ" or similar.

I think most people don't notice these restrictions because they are used to picking an available car that is already built off the lot rather than ordering the specific options they want.
