It's Convertible

Sweet! A nick name! And i'm getting the convirtable hartop, it's gonna be sweet, like that lexus.
Sorry, have been watching your posts as I'm on here way too much. Your spelling is atrocious so you must have good math skills. I'm guessing you are really about 14, trying to act older. No big deal, I do enjoy your posts. For future reference it's "convertible", I've seen "convirtable" about five times too many so far...

We had one like this over on the Solstice forum...she was about 16 and said the most outrageous things...just to get the members cranked up

Her spelling was abominable also.

It's this younger generation...everything is on a computer (incl spell check)

so they have no grammar whatsoever. I get tired of correcting them...so now I just shake my head and chuckle

It'll catch up with them in about 10 years when they have to write an important letter in the business world.

p.s. I re-read everything before I post it...looking for spelling errors and syntax etc.

Oh well ...it's "their" world now...even the commercials are geared to them...in spite of the fact we still hold the real buying power out there.

I think your hardtop concept on the Sol looks pretty good, but it hides one of the Sol and the Sky’s features..

With this type of style on a Sky roadster would hide the high back, headrest trunk that has the “Bat mobile” theme going on. (From the TV shows from the mid 60th series)

To me, it’s like trying to hide an attractive chest on a beautiful woman, why would you? You don’t have to flaunt it, but you do have to keep it balanced.

I would love to have a nice hardtop, but hate to hide the top of the back. (“Baby got back”)

Question: Is a roadster still a roadster if it’s called a convertible? Or is a roadster still a roadster if it’s called a ragtop? I don’t know, but I’m from the old school of knowledge and I’m buying a “ragtop roadster”

If I had to select one, it would be the one “is not currently being considered for production…” because it would not cover-up or hide too much of the top of the back.

ZKY -- It's a Roadster when it is YOURS (Call it what you want!)

I have talked to I want my sky NOW off board and if he is serious about this idea then so am I. In fact I have gladly offered my services for his custom project. It doesn't much matter to me if he comes through with it or not. His grammar has nothing to do with his age or intelligence. I know plenty of people that have problems with this either by choice or otherwise for their entire lives. All I ask is that you try to stay on topic here. Thank you.

My personal opinion is that the Solstice and Sky are both Convertibles. To me a roadster is a car that has NO top soft or hard, the Shelby Cobra comes to mind.

I have posted a poll asking for your opinion on your prefered style of top if you have an extra minute I would appreciate the input:
Favorite Hardtop Style?

I was reading Car and Driver

I hope your engineering costs are not to high. Car and Driver had a blurb that G.M. is planning a hardtop Solstice in 2008. A Sky might be possible to make a better business case. I'd hate to see a forum member do all the engineering and the factory come out with something along these lines as a option.

I am fairly certain that GM is doing a Permenant hardtop. One of the advantages of my design is that you can still go back to the roadster if you want!

That is a very unattractive hard-top idea... I think it makes the car look like a 'station wagon wanna be sport car' like all these matrix's and vibe's and what not. Why can't there just be a hard-top the same exact style and size as the soft top? You already know how it fits, so just use the same fitting =).

I personally don't mind the soft top and will probably never buy a hard top. Thats what the BMW is for.

I personally like the fourth design the best. I like the look of the tunnel back window that mimicks the look of the soft top. Although you would have to redesign the quarter glass to have a more angular shape for the sky. Id definately buy one!!!!!

Why not make a top similar to the Fiero fastback? This way you could keep the two hump on the decklid but give it a sleek look from the side. Then for people that want a true fastback, the same design could be modified into a true fastback without too much trouble.

Either way, I'm sick of people whining about what it looks like. Some people don't care if the car remains a convertible or not. Personally, I would put a hard top on and probably never go back.

Just look at it like this...
If this hard top gets developed, it will only be a start. After other companies see the demand for such a product, they will probably start making a top as well. That, or Chewie could design a new one after these are produced. Then you can all have your hard top that looks like the soft top if someone chooses to make it. I for one, like the fact that this completely changes the look of the car. Not to mention it being more aerodynamic.
