Removing the 'painted' warning stickers on the sun visors

hi Guys and Gals,

I am pretty sure this has been covered in the past but I have not been able to find the answer.

I really hate the PAINTED signs on the sun visors. You know the ones that say, Children should be placed in the 'REAR SEATS'!!

Has anyone managed to remove them successfully, and if so, HOW did you do it. What did you use?

Regards,

Russell. The ONLY Saturn SKY Owner in the UK

Idiot Stickers, Before and After

There is a search engine to the right of the title bar that is really good to check before posting a question. There are more threads than this one, but this is the best thread.

Search:
Idiot stickers
Visors

Here's a thread from last year, those guys painted over the signs. Since the thread is so old, some the pictures are already been removed or gone, (they have a red X where pics use to be. However as you read thru the thread, you will get the gist on the "how to"--
Another set of visor warnings bite the dust (step by step how to)

I used the "search" function and typed in "sun visors"--

The visors seem like a nice opportunity for an aftermarket upgrade.

True, however nobody is taking on the project. I just don't see how you can make them any more functional/better or to change them in any and still have them be able to tuck themselves up into their indents--

Kinda on point. The visor should be made to swivel a full 180 degrees like the old convertible visors did.

There is a supporting vendor over on the solsticeforum that has designed leather covers for the Solstice sun visors. I believe the sun visor is the same on both the Solstice and Sky though, so I would think the product would work on a Sky too.

I don't think I can post any details about the vendor over here on the skyroadster forum, as they seem to only be a supporting vendor on the solstice side. But you could probably find it on the solsticeforum for yourself if you were interested.

I went through and reloaded the pictures to my thread on how to remove... I hope it helps.

Another set of visor warnings bite the dust (step by step how to)

Btw - my visors still look as good as the day I performed this mod.

I just bought a set of vinyl stickers from a guy on ebay that are made to cover the warning lables. They are made by the same guy that makes the Saturn and Redline caliper stickers.

I think the spray-on stuff is the way to go if you want a completely invisible solution. The stickers for the Solstice work better on the "Sand" or "Steel" interior colors. The flat black of the SKY lends itself really well to this treatment.

I pioneered the process over a year ago. Here are my posts giving you all the details on how to do it yourself. It is really easy to do, it turns out great, and it is a fantastic way for you to delve into the "I modified my car and did the work myself!" arena. Ain't no better feeling in the world!

How To: JohnD ONE, Idiot Stickers ZERO

Before and After: Idiot Stickers, Before and After

After it turned out so great on BABY, it was one of the first things that I did on SPIRIT:

Visor Cleanup 2 - The Sequel

And the instructions work! Here is 1994SC2's post of him following my process and how it turned out for him (you can see his post above, too):

Another set of visor warnings bite the dust (step by step how to)

try velcro!

I went to walmart and purchased black strips of velcro. After measuring out the needed lengths for each sticker, I peeled off the adhesive strips and covered up both stickers. It has been several months since then and they are still in place and look pretty good for just a few dollars.
