Sheesh, you buy it to drive it. What's this weekend crap and 3000 miles in a year and half.

I'm averaging 1000 miles a month....and love it.

Drive it to work. Drive it to grocery store. Drive it...just to drive it. Any day any time. When I'm at work, I drive it to pick up lunch....and take the long way back. In fact, let's run down today:

Home: Remove cover. Drop top.
Drive to work. Top up.
Top down, drive to off site work meeting..top up.
Top down, drive back to work..leave top down (15 minute rule).
Drive to pick up lunch...take long way back to work.
Back at work...top up.
Top down, leave work....come home.
Leave top down (15 minute rule).
Collect dry cleaning...off to dry cleaners...top stays down.
Drop off clothes, pick up clothes.
Drive back home....top stay down (15 minute rule).
Quick detail a mud splat and a few bug splats.
Drive to pick up a snack...take long way. Top stays down...15 minute rule.
Drive home...top up....cover.
Ah....a bit of a break.
Cover off...top down. Off to K-Mart (I'm still scoping the pop up detailing shades). Top stays down (15 minute rule).
Take Looong way back....to the grocery store; top stays down (15 minute rule). Collect a few groceries.
Decide to get gas.
Take Loooong way back home.
Top up. Cover.
Plop down in front of computer...and write this post.

Why would I give up all that fun above for:

Drove my Focus around town to pick-up dry cleaning & groceries...SKY safe under cover.

To each his own, I guess.

I didn't even realize he was talking about me!

C'mon, Bogie- you know better than that. 37,000 miles in 25 months with battle scars to prove it!

I would not park it in the same spot everyday........but hey that's just me!

Good Luck........It is a VERY fun cruiser!
I have not taken it to work since my bosses car got keyed about two months ago...lots of jeaulous people i work with...i have been asked, like today, Where is the Sky?...I said home away from any vandalism..SteveSky67

Sky + Truck = perfect. I use my Sky for cruising around town, not hauling. If its a trip to the paintball field, or to Home Depot..out comes the Silverado.

I replaced an '01 Alero with the Sky...(well not really replaced...trying to sell the Alero) but as for me...it's a car. I'm doing my best to keep it nice...but I love driving it and I hate changing my lifestyle based on others' actions.

Of course, it has a lot to do with environment. I work in a part of town where half the cars in the garage are more expensive than mine. We have two Porsches (one Boxter and one 911) a C5 Corvette, a C6 Corvette, an XLR, a Jaguar, an Audi TT, a WRX, two 350Z, several Beemers, a few Cadillacs, a few Mercedes, and an occasional Solstice. Then we have a good number of run of the mill SUVs and basic full size standard makes, all of which run close or over the cost of a SKY. Then we have a majority of nice looking, well taken care of, assorted new and late models, rounded out by a collection of later models (showing their age, but still OK).

We do occassionally have vandalism, but most target things in the car instead of just messing a car up for the sake of messing it up.

I guess if someone had an axe to grind and wanted to take their rage out in the garage, they have a lot to choose from other than the SKY. Of course, the SKY's looks could have 'em thinking it's the most expensive one in the garage....which could make it a target.

Hehe, I feel ya. I go to what's seen as a "rich school."

There were three Aston Martin DB9's on campus last year. Oh what I would do with that kind of money...

Nice... Luckily, my work is cool... 7 employees.. I'm the engineer, but we're all like family. Not worried about keying there.
Elsewhere, well, we have some Ferraris in town so a $30k roadster isn't anything... I live across the freeway from Apple!

nice, i go to a school that primarly has girls, like 1 guy to 3 girls or something, its a small private school in one of the richest areas in the state. Lotta girls who's daddy's buy them cars. Its not a fortune to go to the school though. I'm treasurer of our car club, and we had a doctors at Johns Hopkins come once who has a Porsche Carrera GT (440k starting price).

on my way to work I saw the guy in front of me had a Bentley Continental GTC (Convertible). Not bad, but I would have a Lime Green Gallardo, if I had spent that much

The Sky is my primary car, but I also have a Sebring Conv. for my wife and a truck for hauling things around. Even with the small truck space, I don't really have a problem packing for a week.

Now someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember a few months ago some posting something about a mod that could be installed which provides you an additional 1-2 cubic foot of space. Of course you had to have the Magnaflow exhuast (I think that was the one) installed for this mod to even work.

It's my only car, but my gf has an SUV.......

However, if you don't need "utility" in a vehicle, you should be fine in this. If I can fit a normal size stand golf bag in there WITH 14 clubs, lots of balls, etc, then I'm sure you can fit enough stuff in there for a road trip. I can even put the top down with the clubs back there (which was to my surprise).......so there's more space than you think. Now, if you travel with luggage a lot, it's definitely not going to fit most of the time.

I wish I had pictures, but last Christmas my wife and I took the Sky out to my sister's place, 100 miles away. We squeezed presents for 5 people (3 children, so we had bulky toys) in along with the two of us. Although my wife DID have to carry 1 present on her lap.

Bottom line, the Sky is my daily commute and primary car. Of course, I do get to park in a private garage with armed guards at the gate (don't ask). I don't think I'd want to leave it in a public garage all day. If storage is really a problem, we use my wife's Corolla.

If you are not going to bother to read a thread, why would you post to it ?

Clearly a Sky can work as a primary/only vehicle, as several people are doing just that.

I use my sky as a primary vehicle, I am saying this since I consider it to be my first choice when ever I need to drive somewhere. I do however have a 2wd Ranger for hauling, a explorer for light snow, and monster Ranger 4x4 for heavy snow.

With that said I rarely need to grab another vehicle to do go shopping, unless what I am buying is to big or bulky to fit the Sky. Also I will second the opinion about being able to handle a road trip for two, we took my Sky to galena last year, and the trunk holds acouple soft side backpacks easily with extra room left over any additional misc, someone might want to take along.

Just for information I bought my 2007 Sky in November of 2006 and traded it in on my 2008 in August of 2007, the 2007 had 15,000 miles on it when I traded and my 2008 is just getting to the 15,000 mark now (I was layed up sick for 3 months).
