Carbon Flash Redline Sales by State

Carbon Flash Redline Sales by State:
Note: while there were Carbon Flash base model Skys, so far I cannot find that these vehicles were designated any differently than other base model Skys by the first 11 characters of the VIN like the Redline models. Also, there was no Automatic/Manual transmission code in the first 11 of the VIN for the Redline Carbon Flash models either.

Another Data Mining venture this morning: Determining what is missing from the NHTSA report.

Background: During the time the Kappa cars were being produced, ReedRed from the SkyRoadster and myself on Solsticeforum compiled monthly production and sales reports on the Solstice, Sky and Opel GT. We did this from monthly GM published public shareholder reports. ReedRed organized his reports on model year data, while my reports were strictly on a year to date basis. After Wilmington shut down, Reed and I reconciled our reports and the bottom line numbers were identical (as they should be since we pulled data from the same monthly reports). I use Reed's data breakout here since the NHTSA data dump was organized by model year.

Results: If we subtract the number of vehicles detailed in the NHTSA report (US and US possessions) from the total production, we arrive at the number of vehicles missing from the NHTSA report (delivered to non-U.S. destinations). For convenience, I have totaled across AND down.

Note: Daewoo G2x data was never accounted for separately in GM's published reports, and we concluded that the Daewoo production was included in the Sky data. From a published report in S. Korea, it would appear there were 179 Daewoo G2x imported into S. Korea.

Code:
		        ReedRed	NHTSA	Missing
		        Data Report

You know Dave, I wonder if that 1 2010 Solstice is that oddball seafoam green coupe that went to Canada that the owner keeps trying to sell for $50,000?

Yes, that would be the 2010 Santiago Teal GXP Coupe. I have sort of lost track of it recently, I had a long exchange of PMs with the dealer who ended up with it and had it for a while. It might be worth tracking it down again, as I think the dealer finally sold it to the current owner.

Don't know, but it gives me a target for later this afternoon.

Later, my friend!

The only thing I have found is an entry on The Kappa Registry which would indicate the car may be in Florida, updated January, 2016.

2010 Pontiac Solstice (1G2MB2CX5AY100022) : Registry : The Kappa Registry

I'll have to check but I'm pretty sure that's the same VIN prefix for any 2008 base model with a manual trans.

Just curious, Robo, but are those CY sales or model year figures? For instance lets say I bought my 2008 in 2007, so am I in the 2007 figures or the 2008 figures?

Those are Model Year sales. For example, I bought my first Sky in May of 2006 in CA yet there are zero Sky's showing sold in "2006" for CA.

Robo, according to the production spreadsheet, the first SKY was shipped into a California dealership in mid-February 2006. A friend of mine bought a SKY, manuf in March 2006 from a gal in Palm Desert, that we understood she bought new from a Palm Desert area dealer. That's if I'm on the right track in interpreting that spreadsheet. I would have thought those SKY's would have been firm orders before being shipped to the dealers.

Am I understanding your statement correctly or is it my spreadsheet interpretation?
