I would like to hear what you did about the crappy cup holder.

I put a small piece of clear plastic tape over it to keep it from popping open. I had visions of snapping it off. My passengers knee invariably hits it and "schwing" there it is: open for business and pretty much useless. So what did you do to it?

And keep us updated on the shift knob replacement

I saw some repl knobs for the manual shifts - but nothing for automatic shifter. I'd like to change mine out when I find something.

Mine doesn't open by the slightest touch - you have to push it to make it pop open. Does your stick out too far? Maybe a dealer adjustment?

well for an auto, I have a spring loaded shift knob from Raso. You just press it down to shift instead of pressing a button down. btw it ran me about 50, but its a quality shifter not a walmart roll back

however I'm not sure if this one will work but I'm sure momo or Razo makes one that will hook up

Rick:

Nope it doesn't stick out but it seems to be very sensitive to the slightest touch. Doesn't take much - a tap from a knee - and it swings open.

I will never use it - so it got taped shut. The other day I tried using the dual cup holder above the emergency brake. Accelerated (nothing extreme) and I had hot coffee down into emergency brake. I am guessing that this is not a 'drink and drive' car. My Saab is the same way. The cup holder in the console is pretty much useless. You know what? The cup holders in our 06 Vue aren't too effective either. Maybe you have to go to a mini-van to get substantial cup holders.

I have seen a few... one with a blue l.e.d. looked very cool... now, if I can figure out how to take one with a white l.e.d. and make it pink... I would do it...SkyBaby

That does not look like it is as easy as uncrewing one knob and screwing on a new one!!!!

No it isn't for ours I think that the trim rectangle is harder to get off then the solstice ring. I have tried to get mine off but I am afraid of breaking it. but once that is off it is easier to undo the set screw and pull the shift knob off. remeber that the leather and the shift knob are all one piece. You will need to replace the boot also.

You need a whole new stem and boot? You Cannotjust put a knob like this on that stem and boot?
