Six on the lot

My local dealer has had SIX Skys on the lot for some time now. Does this mean there are no more waiting lists, supply is up and demand is down or that as I sit here on this cold, wet November morning no one is thinking top down driving?

Maryland.
Freezing Temps at night.
Rain during day.

Not particularly the atmosphere conducive to shopping for a Spring/Summer car.

My original buy decision was aimed at ordering to received in Spring of 08. Found one on lot in August 07 that matched my desires, and have had a few months of great weather for driving (I live in Northern VA). If I didn't have it now, I would probably wait 'til spring...maybe.

Alot of the Skys on lots that I have seen have been automatics. But there does seem to be more supply.

Pontiac dealers in our area have plenty of Solstices even GXPs as well.

My dealer owns three sites not too far apart from each other. Between the three dealers they have 16 Skys. 7 of them are at the dealer I got mine from. 15 of the cars are automatic, only 1 is a manual.

The dealership here in Vegas had 4 on the lot and 1 in the showroom when I bought mine. The same day I bought mine 2 sold (one internet and one driven off). Weather here has been top down all month! Rain is coming though, but that never lasts....

Drove by Saturn of Fairfax this morning. Saw 4-5 RL's lined up in the lot out front and another off to the side that didn't get a good enough look at to tell what type. Definetly with the cooler weather, and snow soon to follow, people are just not in the market for a low riding rag top right now. Dealers may also be thinking "X-mas present" and are stocking up.

Yeah, all of the ones were automatic. Still amazed they charge almost a grand extra for automatic.

Worth it, believe me-- Put it in "D" and stomp it...WOW.. It just FLIES with no work, just hold on.. The market is now slowed down. It's the economy, our system is faltering with the credit, housing, lending front credit crunch. Many people have lost their homes or soon will be. Those that financed with those under prime rates are whacking lenders BIG time, foreclosures will go much higher, it is nowhere over, not even close.. Pontiac also now have a ton of Sols sitting on the lots...Those over MSRP's days are OVER!!! YEEEEE-HAAAA. So, bottom line, now is a good time to buy a roadster if you can do it.. I would love to swap my 2.4L for an R/L, BUT, with all the issues reported, the brakes, the motors, the LSD's, I'll just keep my current jewel...NO mechanical issues to date..why tempt fate? My baby has been nice AND very very reliable..

My dealer has had 6 or 7 on the lot now for over a month. I traded my 07 base sky in over 4 months ago and they haven't been able to sell it yet. And this is in Miami where we have convertible weather year round.

I guess the people who really wanted one already got it and now the demand has dropped quite a bit. Not sure what this will do for the car's value.

It could be worse though. The local Chevy dealer has what seems like close to 100 vettes in stock.

My local dealer has 4. All manuals. 3 Redlines. They say they are now honoring the employee discount (they weren't a few months ago). For a while, there was even a $500 rebate on both the Sky and the Sol, but that disappeared a couple of days ago.

I was starting to get interested again, but then I started reading about the issues people on here have been having and got cold feet again.

I agree!! Scary, especially with the R/L's, I would buy another 2.4L in a heart beat tho. As for the R/L, I think I'll wait another year, maybe even 2 until they work out all the many "bugs" these cars have. Granted, many have worked out well, my questions to those people are, Oh yea? but for how long? As usual with mechanical machines, as soon as the 3 years 36K miles roll over, shlt starts to happen.. On The R/L's, I would rather now own an "early" version than those coming out now with the brake issues all are complaining about. I can take the soot, but no brakes...no way especially with my ladies driving it... I'll wait for the 09, or even 2010 maybe we can then see the dash, the radio and a new HOPEFULLY totally different LSD thats not from Get Ragged The 2.4L versions have proved so far To be much more reliable, except of course with the LSD's, they are susceptible to failures, its the luck of the draw on those..

change

I wonder if the factory could change out the auto for manual - or would it then not be considered a factory new car? not sure how difficult that conversion would be - or maybe they could redistribute the autos so that each dealer has at least a couple different colors and all the various options represented - then maybe 1 manual for test drives.
