How about a link to "asap graphics" ? I could not find anything in a search that did anything like what you are talking about.

I had them make me the badge color kit using carbon fiber vinyl. They were easy to install and I have had them on my car over a year with no problems. I have more pics but photobucket is down right now. FYI, I believe Tony does this part time so you may have to wait a while but they are well worth the wait.

Electrical tape is not designed for this purpose. The adhesive will leave a heavy film if removed and it is purposely unstable dimensionally. Its designed to be stretched and cling to itself to provide a weather seal around wire joints.

The plastic film designed to use on cars can be applied and removed without leaving adhesive clinging to the surface. It is also much more dimensionally stable so it will provide a more appealing, seamless, flat surface with the reflectivity desired, from flat, to satin or full gloss.

I would not recommend using electrical tape.

Tony makes these "badges" out of well proven materials designed to be used over automotive paint and exposed to the elements for long term.

The challenge for some of us is preparation for and installation. The surface needs to be clean and flat and oil free. Alcohol bath and rubbing is a great idea. Then make sure you lay the badge flat before rubbing it down. If properly applied they will last for years and give you very good service.

If you live in an area where there is a lot of sand on the roads, you might consider buying several of the front badge so you can replace it when / if it needs to be replaced because of exposure to sand. I had the "chrome" cross bar and the badge area painted due to extensive pitting that resulted from 8 years of driving.

For 11 yrs it has worn well...nothing like experiential learning. Throw away the books.

Instructions came with the badge kit. I just wiped the area with alcohol swabs and let it dry and carefully applied the product. The kit I received had stickers for the center caps on the rims but I chose to use one of them on the steering wheel badge. I can assure you Tony used high quality materials with the carbon fiber look badge kit. More pics below:
