Sky Bra

For those that are interested, CoverCraft has released the part # for their new Bra: MM43210.

suggested care by CoverCraft:

______________________________________-

"Your new mask is constructed from a "Breathable" vinyl Material. Vinyls are affected by weather conditions. Allow the mask to sit in the sun or other warm location above 80F for a few minutes. this allows a the vinyl to soften and stretch, resulting in a properly tight fit as the mask cools after installation.
NOTE: in cooler climates it may be necessary to use a hair dry or other heater to warm up the mask. DONT PUT INTO MICROWAVES OR OTHER HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES. DO NOT PUT DIRECTLY ON HEATER.

Make sure your vehicle is free from dirt before installing the mask. for best results, apply a heavy coat of wax to the surface before installation. A good polymer wax provides clean smooth surface for the mask. pre-waxing and periodically renewing the coat of wax will maximize the protection from your new mask.

We do not recommend use of this product on vehicles, painted within the past 90-120 days. we recommend you check w/ your paint & body shop that painted your vehicle for additional precautions."

As i said in my other post, if it gets wet, remove it. Otherwise it can discolor the paint if the sun comes out and bakes the wet bra. Heat is the big enemy of a bra, dirt will scratch the paint. Only use the bra when travelling, and take it off whenever the car is not being driven. this will prevent rock damage to your car on the highway. As i said before it has protected my Vue without damaging the paint in any way.

Now - all we will have to figure out is who is going to sell them.

oops

Go to their website, www.covercraft.com. with a little searching you can find the dealers, make sure you look for Front end masks. I ordered mine for $110 +tax in Canada at the local speed shop. I checked a few U.S web sites and it cost about $95.00us and free shipping! (U.S only).

This cover should only be put on a PERFECTLY CLEAN CAR. It should be kept clean itself and replaced every 1-2 years. It should only be put on when you know you have highway miles to travel. I can tell you from personal experience that these covers when over used and not kept PERFECTLY clean can do major damage to the paint. But when used seldom (for long trips) and kept clean, they are great. I will look into getting one for long trips!

I had one of these on my Porsche 924S years ago, granted it sorta protected the front end, but ah, over time it did damage the paint, flapping in the wind can do some major damage, and with "soft" paint Sky has, I wouldn't use one of these black bra, or masks as they call it fer nuttin... I don't care what they say, it WILL flap and it WILL scratch the paint... But hey, it's your car and your paint job..go for it.. At least I warned ya, which is all I can do.. BTW, my service adviser @ Saturn strongly recommend NOT to use this stuff, back then also, no one made it either, so going with the 3M bra was an easy decision on my part and I have not regretted it.....Good luck with what ever you do...

I have have used front-end bras on my cars for years and I NEVER, ever leave them on the car.
That is just asking for problems.
They are only used on road trips.
My Pontiac has had it's bra on for less than 90 days of the last 7 years of ownership -
the longest was a leisurely 8-day trip to Texas, where it came off until it was time to head back to the PNW.

I am going to have the 3M installed in front of the rear wheels though.

delivery time

I was told 4-5 weeks to get my order filled. Production will start in 2 weeks. What is being said about the damage caused may happen if you don't use your head. all it takes is a little care. and if you were really smart you could place it on top of your clear bra, for double rock protection. It's only $100.00 the price of one scratch repair. would it not be cheaper to spray a faded hood than one full of chips?

Cool

I have ALWAYS loved the look of a GOOD real quality black bra on my cars. But I am kinda a brat about it... I will only get the ones that are from the factory etc. Like my Jetta one said Jetta on the side,
the 300Z had 300Z on it etc.
