Sky Illuminated Door Sill My Experience

Well I did another after market upgrade to my 2008 Sky. This time I did the King Penn Illuminated Door Sills. I took advantage of the Xmas special and saved a few bucks. I received my package via postal mail and everything was as promised.

The instruction sheet I got is ok. Seems outdated from what comes in the package. The video link was not accurate. I had to do a Youtube search to find the two videos needed to help clarify things not in the instruction sheet.

First thing the video mentions is pulling the carpet retainer panels up and how its pretty sturdy and won't break a tab. Well I broke one tab from the panel on the driver side. Oops not a big deal but if you break more than one could be an issue.
Second the blue clamps in the kit, used to pierce the wires from the BCM module, were a bitch to snap I had to use pliers to clamp them shut!!

Running the wires under the panels was very easy and the mounting of the sills was easy too! I plugged them in and immediately they lit up!! I pushed the carpet retainer panel back in and viola very nice look. Even the one broken tab was not a problem during the reinstall. Nice tight fit.

If you are thinking of doing this yourself have at it. No a problem very easy to do. Be patient and look at the two videos they will help answer any question you may have.

So till my next modification DRIVE Topless!!!

Yeah I'd love to see some pictures!

It's normal to need pliers for the wire tappers. Not good to break tabs, you must just be a beast

I had the same problem.

Another problem I ran into was the spongy strips that were used to glue the sills to the existing sills would get very soft and prone to tear and dislodge if you brushed against them with your foot getting in or out of the car on a really hot day.

I had to repair one of them once because of this.

Looks like you got a paint job. Is that gold color? It looks a bit like the original sema solstice.

Must just be the lighting that is giving the goldish tint.

Depends how you wire them. Mine do... each side lights when that door is opened. But I tapped into the door-open wires into the BCM.

I believe the standard instructions have you wire into the map lights circuit, so both sides light together when the interior lights are on.

This one would be harder to prove than "Does the Refrigerator Light turn off when the door is closed"
Wired per the instructions they do go off when the doors are closed.

Sorry, but no. At least, if wired per the vendor's instructions here:
...they are controlled by the map light/interior light control as I said above. They go on and off when your courtesy lights go on and off - so they go ON when eitherdoor is opened, but not OFF as the doors are closed.
