Soft Top Concerns?

I have been looking at a Sky (Which I must say I think is the coolest car for the price ever! ), but I am just a little concerned about the soft top. Here in West Texas you can get caught out in some fair size hail storms. Have any of y'all run into a hail storm with a Sky and how did the top hold up? One of the other concerns I have with a soft top is a jealous onlooker which might think that a sky would look better with a nice big slit cut down the middle of the top.

What have y'all run into?

Thanks,
ReeganM

I have owned convertibles off and on for 25 years. Never been in a hail storm and never had a top cut open.

I would expect the canvas to do better against hail than sheet metal, up to a point.

A couple of members here have had their Sky's broken in to. Both times the window was broken, the top was left alone.

I would worry more about the hood than the top during a hail storm. And I would worry more about the doors being keyed more than the top being cut by a jealous onlooker.

But honestly, I wouldn't worry about either one. Certainly not to the point I didn't buy the car.

This will soon be (I hope) my third convertible and I've had no problems with damage yet! I will say that if there is any chance of wild weather, I don't drive the convertible that day. I don't push my luck!
